any way this will work?
I am either buying the take off posi from slp and some 3:42 gears or I thought about getting a rearend out of a bone yard. Problem is that I have a drum rear now and if I bought the one from the yard its a disk rear.. if i had not bought my wheels already I would just convert to disk but im not going to do that because of the wheels.. I was wondering if I could just use the rear end out of the bone yard car and put my stuff on it.. use the hogs head and posi unit but in my housing?? I know the offset for the wheels is different but is the axcel housing tubes different lengths?? I just need to know if its a matter of just swaping brake system.. or if i need to swap brake system and axcels.. or if i would have to swap the whole set up and just use my housing for the other cars posi and gears... i hope that makes sense...
thanks

wheel offset
The offest of the wheels is different on a drum rear end then on a disk rear end.. Im not sure which way it would work but either my wheels would stick out really far or be sunk in the car really far.. it would look all fudged up....

I wondered if that was what he was thinking. They might have a slight difference in width, but they will interchange. Just as an example I'm running 87 Iroc wheels from a disk rearend on my 82 camaro drum rearend. They fit perfect.

confused
Let me get this straight... a disk rear end will go right in my car that came with drum rear end with no modification at all?? If that is true then why is it that the offset of my buddies 86 iroc is different front and back... he cant do a full rotation with his wheels.. the front only fits the front and rear only fit the back... Someone tell me what up?????

Look at it this way, they spaced the front out a little bit on the 16x8's so the tie-rod won't hit the wheel. The rear was left alone. The difference in spacing isn't much, you can use a set of 4 front wheels without any problems. But, the wheels marked rear won't fit on the front.

I feel like an a**
If I would have known it was that easy I would have never bought the drum rearend out of that V-6 car.. I really feel like an a** now.. I forgot who told me that the rear ends were different lenghth so they would require different wheels but I would love to kick them right about now.. So if I yank the rear end out of the IROC im looking at what all do I have to do to get the rear disks to work on my car?? I would take the whole set up brakes and calipers and all but I need to know what needs modified to make them work.... Thanks alot guys.. i really feel dumb at this point so I would really appreciate the help.. im sorry:hail:
