I was wondering if you can use any type of T5 Transmission for a 305 block or a 350 block for a pontiac firebird. I am dropping in the engine, and i need to find the transmission. Will a Ford T5 transmission work off a mustang, or off a chevy s10? Which is the better pick? Should i stick with a Camaro/Firebird T5? Thanks guys

 

No, it has to be a thirdgen T-5.

T-56 (stock from a 4th gen or aftermarket)
Tremec 3550
Tremec TKO

 

What is the differeence between the two Tremec transmissions?

 

About 100 lbs torque capacity, the TKO is rated for 550 and the 3550 is rated for 450, the gear ratios are the same for both boxes.
