Where do I check and refill my transmission fluid?

Sorry if it's a newbie question, but the place that it shows in the manual doesn't exist under my hood! hehe

I'm guessing you have an auto since you said the manual says it's under your hood. It should be on the passenger side near the firewall, on the back side of the block.. It's a dipstick similar to the oil dipstick. You'll have to have the car running. Put the car in D, then 1,2, N, R, and back in P. Then check the fluid.

Then that's your problem, standards don't have a dipstick, which really sucks. You have to get under the car, I'm not sure on your tranny where the hole is though. I think I remember my Dad telling me I had to stick my finger in the hole (no one be sick) and I should get oil on my finger. This was when I had my Mustang.

Finger in hole? Whats so sick bout that? ...Man its been awhile since the last time I heard manual tranny be considered "standard". I don't have a manual tranny, so can't really help ya out, its gotta be in the manual (book) somewhere.

Most sticks, standards, manuals, etc. (that I remember & worked on) have a fill hole on the passenger side of the transmission. You add fluid slowly until it comes out, then put the fill plug back in immediately.
