Swapping in a used tranny...
I' going to be swapping in a used tranny soon. It's a fairbanks unit done about 5 years ago, i'm in the process of getting the mileage on it and whether he ran synthetic.
Is there anything else besides a fluid / filter change that would be easier now than later?
For example, how easy is it to change the front and rear seals. Is this a good idea, or likely to cause more harm than good?
Anybody know anything about fairbanks trannys in terms of how well their calibration works?
Also, i'm going to be storing my old tranny. Should i drain it to store it, or better to leave it full. I was also planning on leaving the TC on it to keep the front sealed and a plastic bag over the tail.

seals would be a good idea, i use a slide hammer with a hook tip to pull seals with, not hard to do then hammer and block of wood ot put them in with. put some sort of lube on the seal lips to keep it from burning up when you first start it up
