Amsoil vs. Mobil 1
Does anyone have any experience with Amsoil tranny fluid? Is it any better, worse, or the same as Mobil 1?

According to the engineers that test oil for durability, the Amsoil came out number one, and has for the past several years. Mobil One way down the list and B&N Trick Shift? Don't even bother, JUNK. From what I have seen personally?, I agree with the above results.

"AMSOIL" is the first company to market synthetic lubricants for automobile use. I'm coming up on 19 years using their products, and the ATF was the first thing I used.
"Amway" sells soaps and other household cleaning products. If you have a "friend" who will give you one of their catalogs, you will in fact find synthetic engine oil for sale through them. I have no idea who bottles it for them, but I'm sure they don't formulate it themselves. I have not seen Amway ATF, however.
last year I had my tranny redone with all the good stuff and a vigilante - based on the recommendations of a few of the guys on here (five7kid and probuilt) I went with fully amsoil ATF. No problems here . . .

ProBuilt,
I've heard so many good things about your trannys that in a few months I'm going to be on the phone buying one from you.
Wasp,
I'm in love with your avatar. Car you e-mail me the bigger version please?
All,

I was beginning to wonder if anyone added to this post. Seems I'm not getting my email notifications. Hmm.
Glad to hear there don't seem to be any problems with the Amsoil ATF. I think once I rebuild my tranny the Amsoil goes in.
how does $800 for a 700R4 race prep tranny that holds 950hp sound? I'm thinking that's the route I'm gonna go.

Who is claiming 950 horsepower? I hate to burst your bubble, it does not exist! I have worked with some of the best (Continental torque converters for 22 years, Precision Industries for 8 years, and Trans-Go for over 25 years) and anyone who is claiming that they have a 700R4 that can handle 950 horsepower, would have to charge you in the neighbor hood of $3,000.00 to $4,000.00 because of the special parts that would be needed to make it last. 2004R's that can handle 750-800 horsepower start at $2,500.00 to $3,000.00 & up from there. Remember, anybody can make claims!!!

The disbelief is understandable. I am still hesitant myself.
I'll get more info on what is actually in it and post what they say. Right now I'm going off what a buddy of mine said. He dropped a 383 in an rx7 with the 700r4. At that time they claimed 950hp.
Again, I'll find out what's all entailed.

mmmmmmmm b&m has been making tranny and tranny components for close to 45 yrs and their tranny fluid is junk you say? how long did you say you been in business? also see the attached file ype you were right mobil1 is way down the list........if youll go back to my original post youll see i simply stated what i did and didnt use,..i didnt attempt to knock anyone for their choice nor did i knock anyones product.........if youd like to reply to a post at least bring something of interest
Let me repeat this, according to the engineers that test oil for durability, the Amsoil came out number one (in synthetics), and has for the past several years, and you wanted to know what was best? I am not afraid to say that B&M sells/makes "JUNK", I have torn down their transmissions & Art Carr's over the years and have found them lacking in "everything". You get a "sticker", how nice..... You have the test results in front of you, Amsoil is number 1, right, so what is the question?

my point was a.) mobil 1 is not far down the list as you stated
b.)if b&m atf is junk what do the "experts" recommend? im far from full of knowledge on transmission components but i cant see how b&m could stay in business for so long if they made and sold "junk" thats all enlighten me

just a follow up, from what ive found on the net you cant buy amsoil anywhere but in their online store....every so called dealer kicks you right back to the amsoil sight......mobil1 and amsoil are close in price within a dollar per quart................i cant see paying the shipping for the minimal difference in quality.........thoughts?

maybe im wrong yeah i am.............my bel ray motorcycle oil is 7 a quart hehehehe sorry bout that
According to some of the people in the performance end of the transmission business have stated that B&M is on its way out, due mainly to transmission & torque coverter comebacks. If you get enough volume of orders due to heavy advertising, you can get away with a lot, but sooner or later it catches up with you. Art Carr is another one! Check the boards for complaints and for satisfied customers with either B&M or Art Carr and compare the ratio of good to bad and you will see what I am talking about. I am not familiar with the new type of Amsoil (for automatics), just the regular type that has been around for the past ten years or so.

This has been kicked back & forth a lot, but let me point out one small flaw in the AMSOIL vs. Mobil 1 "data" above - the chart shown is for 20W50 engine oil, not ATF. For AMSOIL ATF, you are paying a little more for a lot more quality - that chart doesn't tell the ATF story, sorry.
I'll admit the availability isn't as good as other brands. But, that's why I signed up as a dealer, and I keep my own stock. Requires a little planning ahead, but when did that hurt anybody?
As for the "new" AMSOIL ATF, it's called Super Shift and doesn't have the friction modifiers in it. AMSOIL does not recommend it for street use, without explaination. My long-time "in-the-know" supplier tells me it's because of the harsh shifting you get without the modifiers. I believe him - I put 5 qts Super Shift, balance regular ATF in the TH400 in the '57 last year - anything more than "normal" power to move the car in a "normal" driving fashion on the street, it really rattles the car (the vacuum modulator softens it for "normal"). At full power, the shifts are instant.

but the advertised price of $8 and change/qt of Amsoil 2000 is twice as much as I'm paying for Mobil 1.
