My friend had a 4 th gen with a LT1 on his lot for sale.
We took it out for a spin. When I looked at the console there was no 1st gear. it went 2, D, OD.

We brake torqued it, then took off. It shifted out of 1st automatically. This realy sucks. the car would be alot stronger if it would stay in 1st longer.

What kind of trans deal is this. Im not trying to sound stupid, but the only 4 th gens I have been in had either a 6 speed or the trans with 1, 2,D, and od on the console.

The car had a 150 mph speedo. I not sure what year, but it had the polished salad shooter wheels.

I'm not sure exactly why they did it. 2.73 ratio is an economic ratio anyway. Maybe they wanted to ensure it got good gas mileage by preventing you to go into 1st...

 

They don't allow you to manually shift into first gear because of noise polution. They found that traveling at X mph in first the car was too loud, so they disabled it. All you have to do is take the console off and remove the little plastic peice that stops you from sifting into first. Its a very simple mod.
