I just got this transmission of off a friend's dad who was in jail for 8 years. It's a Turbo 350 that has under 10K miles on it and has sat outside in his van for 8 years. Along with the 350 engine. My friend and I took it out last night and I was wondering what could be the deal with it? Is it good? The fluid was pretty red when we tipped it. kind of like Blood almost. It was pretty dark so maybe it wasn't that red.

Take care,
Jon

What do you think? An under 10K engine that sat for 8 years? Good or not?

Take care,
Jon

Change the oil. Take the distributor out and buy the tool that alows you to prime the oil system. Change the fluid in the trans as well. Allow all fluids to circulate before you do any driving. Some of the seals will be very dry, they need to be reaquinted with lubricant. It could be ok.

Also, you might want to pull a head to check out the cylinder walls, they could be *slightly* rusted.

I'm an idiot. I'm meant the transmission. I wouldn't touch an engine that sat for 8 years.
