I am just wondering. I have been looking for manual Transmissions that can handle alot of power. So far I have seen trannys rated at about 550.

If you have an ideas or thoughts about the topic please post them.

Thank you:hail: :hail: :hail:

If youre looking for manual transmissions you'll find they're rated in torque not horsepower.

I read up recently on the G-Force transmissions. Pure racing equipment right there. Expect to pay over $5300 for one. Same transmission that's in the Camaro ZL-1 that's putting out 683 ft-lbs of torque. Check out there web site:

Boy, I'd like to get ahold of one of those...

I'm speaking of the 1999 ZL-1, which I know only one has been produced. I believe you're thinking of the '69 ZL-1 as far as the production numbers go, although I can't confirm that number.

no
I have the page some place. There were 69 produced in 1997.
I was not talking about the old school ones, I think there were more than 69 old school produced though, they were for police.

I know it was a concept but thought they sold some of them too.

They showed a red one with strips and the famous black one and another black one. It could have been the same just with different tires though.

I don't know, =(

you are probably right then. I know I found a site that said they made 69 of them with the picture of the black one and the year 1997. But anyone can put that up.

=(

T-56 A stock T-56 will be fine, I almost want to say "FOREVER"...haha

Extreme abuse..There is a guy in our area that dyno'd 823 HP to the wheels and I want to say 800+ ft-lbs also. It's a 422 LS1 Stroker IRON block setup with a decent amount of juice.

He's made a few passes and the trans is fine.

Other guys are seeing 10's and 11's on a regular basis.

With a McLeod Street Twin, ET Streets, steel driveshaft, and 12 bolt or 9" rearends, that says a LOT about a stock trans.

Oh wait. There's another case of a sprayed 396 LT1 running low 10's @ 135+. Stock 6 speed trans. 1.37 60 foot easily a 600 HP car.

YEAH!! =D
you are making me very happy
I have been loking for a 6 speed that would take the abuse. If you think it could handle all that that is a good sign

thanks!!

You gotta also remember it matters alot how you drive it. You can break a tranny just from too much power, this is when you break gears, input shafts, etc. You can also break it from abuse, ie. power shifting, banging gears, etc, this is where you'll bend shift forks and wear synchros. There are guys breaking t-5s behing v6s and lg4s while there are l98s with t-5s swapped in that live.

Otoh, if you're gonna be pushing 700 lbft you're going to already have a buttload of money into the motor itself, why not spend an extra couple grand and get a tranny that will be bulletproof instead of a t56.
