Speedometer gear change
If you just have to change the driven gear it's a 10 minute job. If you have to change both it's a little more involved. Well worth it if you don't have to worry about doing the quick mental conversion before passing a cop.

I have just the trick for you. I have a Electronic Ratio adapter. I alters the pulse of the VSS by splicing in between the VSS wire. All you need is to run a power wire from the fuse box and ground it and you're back to the correct speed. I can't use it because I have the T56 swap and had to use the dakota digital.

I need to get my gears changed. My speedo under reads by 25%!!! 80mph on the speedo is about 100mph in reality (being paced by a friend in his MR2). The car feels slow as hell as the speedo isn't rising as fast as it should.
If I were you I'd swap them so it's sorted. I'm doing mine soon.

go to 700r4.com and use the speedo calibration tool there.........he only carrys gears for non electronic speedos so you cant get me from him if you have that but you can at least find out what gears you need.........you have to take the driveshaft out if you need to change the drive gear..........how can ya tell if you need to change it? take out the speedo sensor and look in there................if its red its a 17 tooth if its grey its a 15 tooth.....the driven gear is the gear on the speedo sensor itself, thats a piece of cake to change............i ordered mine from a local dealer,6 bucks compared to 13 at gmdirectparts.com since the shipping is not in the mix................more about this and part numbers are at this link..........https://www.thirdgen.org/newdesign/faq/thirdgen.shtml
scroll down to the tranny section and youll see all the gear parts numbers in red............find the gears you need using the speedo calculator then go there and look up the part number.....call dealer tell him the number and your all set..........also see this
