Today I went to our GM dealer and I asked them about the Modified Up shift Valve GM Part # 8673948, he told me that they don't bring it any more if I want it I have to make a special order and that would cost me $32.

Is it worth it to pay that much for that part, did any one install it in his tranny, I heard that it will eliminate my 3rd gear lock at WOT.

Any suggestions will be helpful thanks.

 

Hey guy, is that the one that will make a 700R4 upshift into O/D at WOT??? If so, it is worth it if you are building a really nice car. Which brings me to my next question, did an 88 GTA 5.7 liter WS6 upshift into O/D @ WOT??? Unfortunately, I'm unable to test this theory at the moment due to a sick car, but I need to know because if not, I wanna order that part.

 

This is a picture of that kit. RMK's Pic. I myself am going to buy that kit next week. That is what that kit is for. Full throttle upshift into 4th.

 

Is that something you can install yourself?

I have no experience at all with trannies.

How much would a shop charge?

Buy from gmpartsdirect.com 10 bucks for the kit, 3.37 handling, 6.58 freight. Comes to 19.95 total and it comes right to your front door.

 

I see the 3-4 shift valve & spring, what I do not understand is the TV main boost valve included in the parts. If you can measure the size of the boost valve, I would like to know?

 

I believe it's a .471 or around that size but I'm not sure... I'll try to remember to check later.
