dynomax on a 6
dynomax on a 6
just out of curiousity, has anyone put a dynomax performance catalytic converter on their v6, cuz im thinking about it, but i dont wanna spend the money if it wont give me any better power or sound...i need a new cat soon so if anyone has anything on this let me know....thanks....
Ked85 (Karl) and I have ...o shoot !! I cant think of the name right now !! . Well we have converters we ordered from "Don's Hot Rod " in Cali . I wish I could think of the name right now , but it's a converter that is made by Dynomax , so its basically a Dynomax . I still have not got mine installed because of so many other repairs on my car , but I might get mine done this summer , anyway , I paid $60 for the converter , looks real good quality ( I can't wait to get it on ) ...Karl (Ked85) is real satisfied with his , I think he has even had his on his firebird for awhile .

Don's Hot Rod in Tuscon AZ.
Performance For Power is the name
2 1/2" in-out is the one ya want
$60 +shipping.
Same thing as with others names on it.
I've had my first one since 1990 or so.
Passes CA smog so easy!
My 85 Firebird already had a "new" cc installed
Find a late model V-8 F Body intermediate pipe (it's 2 3/4") add muffler your choice.
What else ya can use is from the S-10 Blazer w/2.8.
Grab the "Y" pipe.
Look at your passenger side exhaust, straight down.
See that "T"?
Deduct 5-7 HP for poor exhaust flow!
Have yor muffler guy install yourself a free flow "Y" pipe, the larger CC, the larger "I" pipe from the F Body V-8, a muffler, you've gained solid 10 HP, all thru entire RPM range, that you feel in seat of pants!
This is a very good foundation for a great inexpensive HI-Flo exhaust.

I have the dynomax converter on my 2.8. As far as performance I can't really give you a straight answer b/c I installed it with the catback system so any performance gains I got was from the whole set up.
I ordered my converter from JEG'S. the price was $89.99 and the part number is 028915735 and that is a 3 way converter for '83-'89 Camaro.
