Flowmaster Vs Dynomax

Simple question... which is better flowmaster or dynomax. I want to get either but would like to get the best.

I have Flowmaster and had the same on my 84 and love the sound, but in a test I read the Dynomax made more power. No, I don't remember the magazine or date.

i had a dynomax on my car when i bought it. it was about the same as stock. now i have a flowmaster, i love the sound. ive heard stuff that dynomax flows a little bit better. Its a matter of opinion. if u want the muscle car sound go 4 the flowmaster

You probably won't feel a difference in the seat of your pants from switching one muffler to the other. It really ends up being what sound do you like and what do you want to spend. I have had both mufflers on my car, that's why I feel that way.

Just a quick question, I know that there are different series Flowmasters, which one is the loudest and quietest?

i know they have two catbacks for our cars, the american thunder and force II, the force II isnt as loud as the american thunder system.

the american thunder uses 80 serries mufflers which are pretty loud. i think the 80 serries mufflers are the same loudness as the 40 serries, not sure though.

get the flowmasters, they'll last a lot longer, and give you one heck of a beautiful sound!

Is getting a cat back system that worth it. Im scheduled to get a hefty refund check so I can swing it <finally>. Also what is a decent price someone should be charged for it? I want to make sure i am not being ripped off <which happens more than id like to admit>

I run with the Dynomax super turbo. It is very quiet at idle, but when its time to go (WOT)it is very strong sounding. Plus it keeps the cops off my a$$.

The sound of flowmaster is awesome! I have flows on my girl and the cadalidic converter is hollow so it makes it about 10X's louder. I have one of the noisiest ladies in town! And is it a beautiful noise!

I like the Flowmaster's (30 series, orig design), too, but gotta be honest and say I just swapped them out for 2 reasons:

Drive me up the wall on long highway trips...

REALLY do attract the attention of law enforcement personnel under even minimal throttle use.

Swapped to Dynomax's... Kinda miss the Flow sounds, now, but I still remember how loud it was... I would bet that the Delta Flow new series in the 40 config (3 chambers instead of two) would be ok... Maybe i'll try them in SPring.

I prefer Dynomax; simply because everyone and their horses around here run Flowmaster. I hate hearing "yeah, and I got flows on it"...

I'm running Flowmaster's AT dual 3 inch outlet cat back. It's sounds great, it's acutally quieter than I thought it would be at low rpm's. When you step on the gas, they come alive with a very aggresive sound. I had an older Flowmaster 2.5 inch dual-outlet muffler on it previously and it was not as aggresive, but had a similar tone. I'm very happy with the current setup, it sounds great with headers!! I've also run cheaper (super turbo) dynomax mufflers on my old 63 Comet and have been happy with them too! That is really a different design though....

The UltraFlo's look pretty cool. As i recall, they're stainless so you don't have to worry about rust, and they sound pretty freakin good (kinda like Borla's)

I run Dynomax turbos and they sound deeper than flows at idle and they have a sweet tone to them in the upper RPMs. The muffler is a little burned out so the fiberglass inside might not be doing such a good job anymore. My buddy had flows on his 87 GTA and they were just too tinny sounding. Upper RPMs were pretty good but they just seemed to loud and tinny. My Dad's delta flow flowmaster's on his 68 nova rusted a hole in them. They held a bunch of moisture in them then it just rusted through!

I prefer Dynomax since the wife won't ride with me if it's too noisy. The only thing I don't like about my system was the installation of that damned 1-piece I-pipe, which is hard to do in a parking lot with ramps and a truck jack.

I have the superturbos and although they aren't much louder at idle they have a nice tone and sound good at high rpm. I looked at the flowmaster setup on a firebird formula and I personally did not like the 2 tailpipe exit on the same side. With the superturbos I at least got the stock muffler look.

The new American Thunder 3inch Flowmaster catback uses a 3 inch slashcut (last 12 inches are stainless) pipe on each side. The pipes are not flared or adapted, full 3 inches all the way to the tips. Doesn't look like stock. In my opinion, it looks better!!

Flowmaster makes more than one catback system for our cars. ex: single outlet, dual outlet, dual same side, dual opposite side. Make sure you select the right cat configuration. (single/dual cats) You can buy an 80 series 2.5 inch dual outlet muffler and use your stock tailpipes. I did this for awhile. It was almost silent at idle, noticeable under throttle. The three inch AT dual outlet catback is much more aggresive, though still pretty quiet at idle/cruising.
