Well, I guess that's it. It's very possible that this is my problem, I'm sure you've all heard about my intermittent code 34 (which has not reoccured in a while...)
I eventually traced the problem to the MAF sensor not getting enough voltage from circut 13 (or was it 18... ??), the wire that goes from the guages fuse to inside the engine compartment... The signal wire tested out and so did the grounds, that does not however rule out a bad ecm...
Should I buy a new ECM and a fastchip?

Truth?
Buy a ECM.
Find one from any 1985 Car, REUSE YOUR ORIGINAL CHIP.
Pull your electronic and throughly rebuild.
I swapped ina 1985 Corvette ECm into my Firebird.
Same thing.
Used old PROM, works perfect.
Rebuild your electronis including new timing chain swap.
Better results, promise.
More effort, yes.

I'm sorry, I should have specified...
The problem that was fixed with the onset of this ervice bulletin was a problem in the 1985 prom for these cars. It produced some wierd stuff...
Since I also think the ECM could be toast, I was going to buy a new one of them also. Since I need the new chip, and GM won't warantee the replacement of my prom (not a safety warrentee, doesn't carry over to new owner) figured I'd just get a Fast Chip while I was at it.
Get it now?
