You should call around to get prices, if you don't want to do it yourself. You might save some money if you drop the trans out and reinstall it by yourself, and bring it somewhere to be rebuilt.

Avoid the B&M Shiftkit. The B&M Transkit is the same as a B&M shiftkit, but includes a transmission filter. (That's the only difference for the Transpak, as far as our 700r4's are concerned.) Put the TransGo shift kit in.

I have the B&M Kit before I knew that it's potentially dangerous... if I knew that back in '97, I wouldn't have put it in.

Why not rebuild it yourself? There's plenty of messages on the Transmission board about it. When the last guy rebuilt my trans (as a favor for another friend, not thru a trans shop), he photocopied the parts receipt for me. The rebuild kit was about $80, the torque convertor was about $90, and a front pump kit was $60. Not too shabby. The rebuild kit was a stock one- and I was thinking of putting a B&M rebuild kit in mine, but hey, it's just a V6; I'll put a stock rebuild kit in.

Ya want numbers?
I just bought a rebuilt convertor from a convertor rebuilder in East LA for $75 + two cores.
He was offering to sell me a reseal/rebuild kit (clutch pak, 1-2 band, and all those little things & filter and book how to do it, for $125 extra-NO hard parts (sprag, pump, etc).
I can get this tranny rebuilt, first time guaranteed, for maybe $500 or less. I will hand it to him, outta car.
NOW why ya wanna "chirp" all the time?
It's not good for the drivetrain nor in the rain.
Just a FYI on that detail.
My tranny is firm upshifts and solid gear changes and solid 4th gear stay in overdrive, torque.
That is exactly what you want the end result to be.
If you drive on the street.
I equate "chirp" all the time, to excessive quickly tranny wear out syndrome.
Wayne may prove me wrong on that, tho.
