Stock exhaust replacement ?! (TomP)

I dont post much here, but I browse frequently... I wanted to attract Tom here because it seems he has answers for everything

What I need is where you think I will get the best price for a stock replacement exhaust..

The guy who owned the car before actually cut the exhaust (right before the cat) including all the (mounts ??) that hold the exhaust up.

So as of Right now my car is extremely loud and has very little 'oomph' to it on take off.

I appreciate your help.

Honestly your best bet is to go with the dynomax cat back. It includes EVERYTHING from the catalytic convertor back, and you can install it yourself. Then I'd get a Catco High Flo convertor from Summit (cheaper than I've found by calling around). I dont' know of any place to order the actual mounts, but you can get it mounted at an exhaust shop for probably $20.

Thanks a lot...

Well, After reading a post about calling jegs for a product even if it isn't listed for you car...

So, I called them earlier today to find out a price on the Dynomax Cat-Back exhaust system for my 91 3.1 L Camaro...

The tech rep tells me NO ONE makes ANY exhaust system for the car... in which I replied with disbelief "no exhaust system for my car huh?", to clarify.. he said No.

Would you mind helping me in finding the Price of the dynomax exhaust for my 91 camaro 3.1 L ? I hate to make myself look new at this sort of thing, but I am

Thanks again.

www.summitracing.com

Part # WLK-17493

Price $154.XX

If they try to charge you oversize shipping you call BS, and tell them that hundreds at thirdgen.org were charged regular shipping.

Want a perfect local solution?
602-884-8892
Don's Hot Rod 2811 N.Stone Ave, Tuscon AZ, I'm reading his ad from May 1987 issue of Popular Hot Rodding
He advertises in Hot Rod & Car Craft & Super Chevy & Popular Hot Rodding.
I've bought stuff from him, still will.
Go to him.
He has Performance For Power CC's for $60 (2 1/2" in & out), he sell pipes & sells mufflers & he guarantees he will beat anyones prices.
I wish I was closer, I'd be going to him right now.
I'm looking for a good muffler ship in the San Fernando Valley right now.
Tell him you want, from exhaust manifolds, a 2" pipe per exhaust bank, solid & smooth, to a SMOOTH FLOW "Y" junction to the 2 1/2" in & out CC, to 2 3/4" Imtermediate pipe to a twin exiting chrome tip pipe performance muffler (just not flowmaster, so NOISY-not cool sounding at all. I got one, no I don't like it).
And you want it installed.
Tell Don you heard about him from a satisfied customer in Los Angeles.
If Don can make a resonably priced "custom" "Y" pipe for your car, I'll buy one from him, too!
So far I'm at $100 for that "Y" pipe alone.
Too expensive.
FYI, that Hi-Flo "Y" pipe can add about 5-7 hp alone, to your already good exhaust system.

Look at about $300 or so total cost ($150 parts/$150 labor), but, you need to spend it.

That was your first mistake; calling Jegs. I always say to call Summit Racing! The jerk you talked to at Jegs probably didn't even open a book. The exhaust system is spec'd for 82-92 2.8/3.1 and 5.0l V8 (except engine codes H & E), single cat.

(I just sent this message to summitracing.com's email! I left your name out of it, of course... but I think they'll get a kick out of how stupid their competition is!)

does that mean when I drove to Jegs & picked up the dynoamx system for the bird I really didn't? I even bought some jets for the bonnie's carb. Didi I do that also? wait, the jets are in the garage waiting for the cam/intake swap. Whew, allmost thought I was hallucinating

When I called up Jegs before going, I gave them the p/n from the catalog to check availability before going. Maybe you called Jehgz by mistake, they only carry parts for 67 studebakers, and not the Avanti models.

Thanks for that!
I once test drove a 1970 Avanti w/Chevy LT-1 power under it (factory offered that year).
I wish I could afford one now.
I'd take a 63 R-2 Supercharged, of course. Automatic, up graded to a new modern tranny
THAT CAR was the FASTEST MODEL YEAR (1963) PRODUCTION CAR

Jehgz...

www.jegs.com \ 1-800-345-4545

I called the right people.

I'll tell you exactly what I said .

Me: "Hi, I'm looking at the dynomax cat-back exhaust on your site, but I don't see my car listed."

Him: "What kind of car"

Me: "1991 Camaro RS 3.1L v6."

Him: "Oh No one makes an aftermarket exhaust for that car"

Me: "No one makes an exhaust for my car ???"

Him: "Nope."

Me: "err.. okay..."

Maybe I just got the fruitcake of all the techs there...

Ovrclck, Thanks for that price, btw.

KED, I think your sollution is one I'll try. I live in Phoenix, AZ .. so I'd be able to drive down there. Thanks a lot.

Eric,
I really wish I was close to this guy!
I would be there to have him do some muffler work.
I KNOW HE SELLS MUFFLERS/PIPES/CC & SUCH
I bought stuff from him, still have it working on my 85 Blazer, listed below.
I bought in 90-92.
Yep, it has passed smog, easily!
I DO NOT KNOW if he INSTALLS STUFF.
But, I'd love to see his shop.
He has a SUPREME-O DRAG RACING HISTORY!!!!
Like from the 50's/60's, when Drag Racing was as exciting and fun as you see it in the Annette Funicello & Frankie Avalon "Beach Blanket" early 60's movie series.
Ask him to show you his drag racing AA Altered Fuel Racer, "Incognito".
Imagine, literally sitting over a third memeber, ***** OUT, then igniting the fuse for about.........
1,000 HORSEPOWER :hail: ride,
and then
doing it, again.
And again....
I hope this idea works for ya....

Any good reasonably priced muffler shops in the Valley?
Anyone?

Hehe, Overclk, know what's on summit's order line's "holding music" now? They say that some exhaust systems will be charged an oversize fee, and to ask your sales rep before ordering.
