Hey guys, I want to make my v6 faster..... I just found a crane 2030 compucam for $100 plus shipping. What do you think.. its brand new, still in the box. I have working on some mods but nothing to indepth yet. Also what would the price of the roller tip rockers be around???

You could call Summit and ask, or look up the part # thru http://www.compcams.com and the price through http://www.summitracing.com . If the cam is really new in box (and never used), and still has the new lifters in the box, sounds like a good deal!

I think Brian K was saying that if you change the rocker arms to a higher ratio, you should get stronger valve springs. And yeah, depending on the mileage of that motor, he might want new valvesprings anyway.

The heads should be fine...

NOT TOTALLY TRUE
VALVE GUIDES ARE THE WEAK PART OF THESE HEADS!
Install NEW springs as the RPM factor is not in the current worn spring favor!
Ya gotta spend some basic money or else you can/may blow the motor.

yeah tomp is right see if the lifters are new ....

u also need

1. gasket kit..-intake , valve covers -autozone - $23-25

2. good idea to change pushrods as well.. autozone $2.xx each

3. timing chain and gear - $ 25-$30

also 1.52 roler rockers dont reuire new springs but anyhitg over it i think its better with performance springs
but also depends on how many miles u got in that motor and how much abuse it got

u might wanna clean ur intake atleast ..if its dirty on the inside
(i ported approx 1-2mm on each side with a dremel it when i put the 2030 in)

get a K&n unless u have one and try to modify the air intake that'll really help the cam

Personaly I would not waste your time with the CompuCam 2030....only difference I noticed was that it did struggle as much on some of the roads around in my area. Thats it, not faster by any means.

But thats just my opinion and my experience.

Hell if you do decide that you want the cam. I will sell it to you for $50.

I can not believe it did not make more of a difference. Compare the grinds?

An old member ssfirebird did it along with 4.10's and he said that combo was drastic...

does the compu 2030 require any mods to the computer for A/F mixture or will the computer detect the change and adjust itself?

That cam is suppose to not require any tyupe of change to the prom. Computer Freindly I think is what it says on Crane's website.

As for the 4.10, that is probably what made a big difference. That I can see happening.

the 2030 is worthless. Go to Crower, the cams are still comp freindly and are ALOT more agressive, and more bang for the buck. their kits come with just about everything to replace your stock valve train. Push rods, springs, retainers, lifters. The works. They are only about 30 bucks over Crane too. 180-190ish compared to 160 for crane.

he is thinking of getting the cam for 50-100$..the only other cam that cheap he can get new is the wolverine BLUE racer

crower's the best though in terms of grind specs...
