Water sinks in gas so it should be picked up by the fuel pump quickly. with that much soon as you started the car, you would already know. course if im wrong and it floats, keep your tank full.

Water is heavier than gas , so it will sink to the bottom.
3 cups is not very much , I dont think it is enough for the strainer to pick up in a 15 gallon tank. however you may have intermittent problems if it picks up a little at a time if the gas splashes around.
You can put a bottle of Dry Gas in the tank just to be on the safe side.

No no. I don't f**k with other people's cars. I use this trick when jackasses bring their car in the shop and conveniently forget the key for the gas cap. (when they forget the door key is THE worst though)

Just like Wayne, I've had the locking gas cap - since January of '94. I had to replace it last year; the internal cam snapped.

Probably a generic company like Stant made them for GM.
Mine looks like a Stant product, but no name on it.
Curious.

Karl ,
Actually , I was just thinking about mine again , I think it might have a name on it somewhere . I wouldn't be surprised if it was a Stant . Stant makes such good quality products . Mine is still good after all these years.

I always liked hitting the locking caps with Batt acid... then coming back 15 minutes later. You look at it wrong and it croumbles to pieces.

And No do not **** with a persons car unless they **** with...
1. Your car.
2. Your woman.
3. Any of your freinds above listed items.

If they do its free game. Lord forbid you have freinds like mine in H.S. that will actually kidnap your *** and take a 24V RIG Batt and jumper cables then commence to "pop" your nuts for messing with "my Fiance at the time". I really felt sorry for the poor guy...

Hell I stopped my freind from tearing the wings off a Yellow jacket then tapping it in the guys ear at least... I would not wish that on a enimy.. WHOO that would HURT...

yes I had some really good freinds in H.S.. Strange, but very loyal.

You guys prabaly have some of those VAN NUYS cars . I have one myself ; but sence my car is white , bad paint does not show that bad on it . My roof is the same way though , you just dont knowtice it that much .In the 80s , not sure exactly which year , California put strict smog laws on gm's paint . This forced them to water down the paint alot . So you can thank your California State Legislators for that .

stupid government also messing things up!

Gee....
Where do I start.
For those that don't live here,
Let me give you an education.
I lived in Washington DC before I arrived out West in Dec 1980.
That Summer in DC (1980) was the SMOGGIEST EVER.
Imagine driving into/towards a building and never seeing it because of the pollution?
What Building?
Try Lincoln Memorial off of Key Bridge (I believe)
I move out to LA.
Guess what?
Pollution so bad, one day, I couldn't see past two blocks.
I get pollution sick (Ask CaliCamaro how it feels, lately), my eyes develope an injury from wearing contacts to much & not allowing eyes to breathe (taking a break with eyeglasses).
MY sinus's collaspe (Ask Fast RS how he feels lately).
I move to the beach to escape the pollution. I live there from 1983 to 2001.
BECAUSE OF THE GREAT STRIDES IN POLLUTION LAWS, I can
move to the Valley where the GM plant once was, I can see mountains MANY MORE DAYS THAN EVER BEFORE (not just Rose Parade Time, people!), I can exist out here, without slowly dying from lack of fresh air.
LA decreased it's pollution by 75%! since I moved here in December 1980.
What are the worst polluters in LA basin?
the desert (dust is kicked up by farming & movement-wind brings it to the LA basin-try EDWARDS Air Force Base as the BIGGEST LA Polluter!)
Tractor trailers (diesel fumes, imagine that!!)
Factories
lawn mowers
barbcues
paint evaporating.

That's the truth.
Paint has advanced a long way since those paint jobs, too.
YOU CAN ALSO BLAME THE SUN for being "Stronger" than it used to be.
Strong sun can cause paint to lift & curl.
My 1974 Corvette rear bumper is a perfect example what happens by mixing strong sun & poor paint prep or just poor paint.
My bumper, the original paint curls & lifts off the 1974 rear bumper cap.
Leaves a sticky feeling.
Wish I could leave the car, sit in the sun and all that old paint would lift & curl off!
Also blame "Acid Fog"
Know about Acid Rain?
What do you think happens with the fog?
Do yo wash your car after a strong fog has blanketed your car?
You should! That kills the clear coat, too.
GM just "reacted" to laws and had to keep production/profit up, overhead costs down. evntually, it cost to much to keep plant there.

Off soap box now.
But really this is VERY CLOSE to the actual truth.

that would suck to drive up to a building and not to be able to see it

Throwing out a few I forgot stuff back then.
These are old cars like close to 20 years now!!
how many cars you see daily driven thata are old with original paint jobs and not in a garage!

yea the pollution is alot better in LA now then back then, but to my eyes it is horrible, i live on Vancouver Island in Canada, What is pollution? lol, Clear all the time here, bright blue sky no bad smell, no yellow tint in the air, green trees everyware, fresh water (i can jump in the lake i live at and drink the water its so dang clean, fresh mountain streams constantly pouring in, yea its very nice here compared to anything iv seen in the USA, no offence or anything, but we are clean

Karl ,
Not knocking on California . No pun intended to you Cali people Just telling what happend .To bad they couldn't do something with all that pollution besides giving you guys all those stringent laws ..But , I guess thats the only way to solve it . AND your health is more inportant . BUT , however Karl , my paint on my car was messed up when it was only 7 years old . My whole back drivers side quarter panel is all cracked up , if it was not for my car being white , you would be able to see if far off ! I even had a few friends in highschool who worked at body shops tell me " thats defective paint on your car "

i was over in Cali during Christmas, and the air seamed fine, so i guesed its all fixed. I was near Sacremnto (Beale Air Force Base) and I saw a truck i could park my car under thats my kind of truck!!!!!!

that state is beautifull, too bad they have too harsh of emmsions laws or else i'd consider moving there

harsh laws
BIG DEAL
You only need find loop holes.
I did, that's why I fugured out my 2.8->3.4 swap boogie.
Wayne, the pollution laws....
let me offer this.
BACK WHEN THERE WERE JUST INDIANS HERE
Even then this basin was a pollution trap.
Fire smoke would linger over this LA basin area.
Mountains and air currents
One cannot win over Mother Nature.
So.. What do you do?
Close the gate to others here?
You wouldn't believe what I've seen leave/torn down since I've been here.
LA is NOT the only city affected by pollution.
At one time last year Huston was Number one in Pollution alert days.
Hell we even get it from CHINA, here, now. Wind current brings it over.
Yeah, we so lucky.
BUT THE FIRST DAY OF SUMMER REALLY BRINGS OUT THOSE SHORT SHORTS & GREAT LOOKING LADIES!!!!

Bad paint is just bad paint.
I know (I'll bet others, too) Fords, Chryslers, Foreign things all suffered in the 80's.
Oh-Oh Better get Macco!

MANY other places are just beautiful to live.
But try to make a living there.......

It's a tough trade off, but technology does help for the better some days!

We have EXXON down here man , I know that helps us with our share of pollution ! Whats crazy is they make alot of gas down here but its gets so expensive down here when gas go's up . That makes sence huh ?

I'm not looking...
I observe.
MAN some days....
Serious, it's like they grow like weeds......
Some days, you just don't see a dog at all......
You should have seen the beaches/roller girls in Venice in the 80's (watch "Hunter" for a reminder!)
Man, I was HOOKED on "California Girls" since Brian Wilson (he wrote that at the age of 20!) introduced them to me in 1964.
I was 8.
Luckily, I eventually met him & thanked him.
Because....
My Wife is a California Girl!

Wayne,
what cracks me up is that there is an Arco refinery, literally across the street from the Arco Gas station.
You'd think their price would be the lowest (less travel for delivery...)
GET REAL!

what cracks me up is that there is an Arco refinery, literally across the street from the Arco Gas station.
You'd think their price would be the lowest (less travel for delivery...)
GET REAL!
sure

hahahaha, you would think, huh?

Stuart.
You haven't learned the hard way, as I did (she was a vivacious Red Head and I hurt her heart, that I truly cared for)
Ya gotta ONLY OBSERVE
You can't get CAUGHT looking.......
But when you are alone........just don't rear end the car in front of ya:duh:
My Wife knows I "flirt", all the time.
My 21 month old is picking that up, too!
My Wife sends me to "flirt" with the Waitresses for better service.
I send her out for "flirting" missions too.
One pickup food place, the guy likes her.
We get larger protions of take out that way

Just as an FYI,
I "flirt" with her, alot, still.
NEVER forget that detail..........
I love making my Wife's heart beat, the most....
