What about crankcase air breather filters????

Hey, what about crankcase filters... you know, the tiny little filter that fits in the place of the oil filler cap. I looked at an application guide for the filters and it said that it is not recommended for the 3.1 camaro... Why??? One day I accidentally left my oil cap off an drove a block or two and i notice my exhaust was louder and the engine would rev quicker. I took of out the parking lot and peeled out for a good 4 seconds. Then my engine instincts kicked in and i pulled to the side and open the hood and saw that it was off and put it back on. darn i wanted it off but ohh well... i figured the crankcase vent filter would give me sorta the same effect. What do you guys think ...should i get one or not, and what may be the repercussions if i do put one on.????????

Change your PCV valve. Around $1.00. IIRC Crankcase breathers really aren't recommended b/c they interfere with the PCV system and couple other things, but mainly they're just a temporary fix for another problem.

Very good question man! I was thinking about that not too long back as well! I think I'm gonna pick up a new PVC valve tomorrow and throw one in considering they're cheep as it seems and I am not 100% sure of when the last time mine was replaced!
