got intake on(PIC), fan question, and something I wrote
I got the air intake done. Finally something that made a real noticeable difference. Like going up this one hill where it always shifted to 3rd when I reached the top. Yesterday I made it all the way over in 4th and didn't even have to build up a butt-load of speed to do it.
I'll post a pic of how it turned out later today if I can get a digital camera. (stupid sony camcorder broke again)
Also might get the ASP crank pulley on today.
and does anyone have any idea how many amps the fan uses? I might rig up my own manually controlled fan switch, and would like to install a fuse in there somewhere.
And now a little something I wrote a few yrs back that reminds us of the beaters most of us have owned now and then. I finally decided to post it for s--ts and giggles.
My wheels
by Jeff Schwarz
I've been driving this car for a whole lot of years,
there's a rattle and grind from its worn out gears.
All of the wheel bearings vibrate and hum,
and the right side door is held shut with some gum.
The body used to have more rust than paint,
so I slapped on some primer and now it looks great.
The interiors worse, its not very neat,
it smells old and musty and there's mice in one seat.
There's clouds of smoke coming out of the back,
sometimes blue, and sometimes black.
Whenever I gas it there comes a loud knockin'
and deep down inside she starts swayin' and rockin'
I usually go slow, and seldom go fast,
but most of the time it just guzzles the gas.
Hoses are shot, but at least it's alive,
got eight cylinders, but only use five.
The oil goes through it a quart every day,
but I don't mind since I get decent pay.
If I want to slow down I push the brakes to the floor,
but whenever I stop I need to pump'em up more.
Half the fuses are corroded, half are burnt black,
clutch plate slips and the block has a crack.
Got no insurance, can't find the vin,
tires are bald, even the spare's worn thin.
But I own another car in case this one ever blew,
only I hate driving it since this is the best of the two!

Pics of the intake. the little white things are zip ties holding it still. I'll come up with something better to hold it

I'll start on something to isolate it from the rest of the engine bay soon. Ended up cutting the bend off the MAF. the filter fit to it perfect.

Another thing I thought about was wrapping the pipes in some kind of heat shield stuff since it passes in front of the radiator, but I doubt it would really make a difference anyway. I'll start tearing into the front end soon to get ideas of what I need for the ram air
