I'm 18! (and a/c compressor)
Hey, guys, I'm officially 18 now!
Is $600 a reasonable price for a shop to replace my compressor (old one locked up), reciever/dryer, orifice tube, and recharge? I don't know when I would have time to do all that, especially since I'm still waiting on that pipe to come in and can't even drive it out to get the parts I need.

seems just a little steep. compressor & clutchassembly about $150 (roughly), accumalator $40, a/c lines $? . actually do not know where orifice tube is/goes (never had to worry about it
) sounds like the rest is labor. then there is the new r134a service ports/adaptors, prob $20 max, and the r134a oil charge & freon, $35 for those kits. best to have shop do this to make shure it's done properly, but shop around, find out how much if you supply parts.

Happy Birthday! Time to go head to the nudie bars!! Just don't spend all your cash at once... it can get expensive real quick, but it's one of the most fun things to do with you buds!
And as for the price for the A/C that does seem kinda steep considering what 85 said.

hay camaro 89 dude, i have the whole shot, everything involved in the a/c system, did a swap and refused to put it back in, i know for a fact it all worked 5 months ago when i riped it out, the compressor is great, the orifice tube i never messed with dont know anyting about that, evaporator/dryer is good too, i even have the hoses and those are in great shape... if you want any or all of it hit me back, im am pretty sure I can do better than $600, well since it is all just sittin arround anyways

Don't use that rebuilt compressor crap, buy new, should be about $200 for a new AC-Delco compressor from Autozone.
Rebuilt crap doesn't last, I'll bet the price of the new compressor that if you went with rebuilt it would last 18 months max.

Happy b-day guys, and yeah, it's all downhill after 21. I think the next "good age" is that of retirement, which will probably be 90 in a few years...
