Air pocket

Ok guys, this is whats up now. I did a lot of work on the cooling system this week, and got it to crank a couple times, last night and this morning. The temp went up real fast the first time I cranked it, up to 250. Then I cut it off, restarted it, drove it around. Usually its around 180 on a cool day, 190 on a warm day. But the temp never went below 225 this time.

Besides the fact that it needed a new radiator cap, would an air pocket in the coolant cause this? How do I get rid of it? (I just put in new coolant yesterday).

I put the new radiator cap on today, but haven't been able to start it since (still having electrical problems, gonna hot wire it tomorrow to see what happens) so that might fix it. But I have no idea.
Thanks for the answers,
Jason

Nevermind guys, between replacing the radiator cap and topping off the coolant the problem was fixed.
