V6 Cooling Flush

Hi guys...I am looking for the best way to flush the cooling system of my 3.1 V6. I don't want to take out the thermostat since its a pain to get to. I thought about draining the system...clean the radiator and resovoir tank...fill the radiator and tank with pure water...run car to operating temp...cool engine and drain remnants...then start over till clean. Tedious i admit...but will it work or has someone have a better idea or thought on how to do this.

Thanks guys
