3.4 dohc
3.4 dohc
Hi this is my first post i just picked up a 85 SC for 100 bucks runs good has very little rust interior is ok has the 2.8 mpfi and a 5 speed. I was wondering if anybody ever looked into these engines for there camaro i know it would take some work such as relocating the starter and flipping the intake manifold for a rwd application. but other than that it shouldn't be that hard. I already have a 350 V-8 s-10 that has 80,000 miles on the 5 speed with the 350 in so i know that the camaro 5 speed will hold up. (I beat the hell out of the S-10 it gets rubber in 3rd and chirps in 4th) I like to be different that's why i want to put in the 3.4 dohc in the camaro i guess if you play with the cams and port the heads and tweak the computer 330 horsepower isn't out of the question. add a turbo and the 8,000 rpm redline should be fun!!!!!!!!!!!!! it's either the 3.4 or a northstar but then i have to find either a v-8 5 speed or a 6 speed. I also don't know how the northstar will work with a stick it is auto only in production vehicles isn't it??? This will be my project after i put the LS1 in my 86 Monte SS. Thanks in advance.

Go to the tech section and find the article I wrote on slipping in the 3.4 from a 92-95 F Body.
I was offered a DOHC engine for my swap. I passed quickly as soon as I saw a pic.
Heads to wide.
But it's your wallet & welder.
Enjoy the hunt for power.
I did same trick for my S-10 Blazer, too.
Using the 1985 carb & distributor stuff.
No big deal.
It'll receive a 1985 MPFI unit, soon enough.
Have to pass CA smog first, ya know.
Then I play & install the MPFI in my Blazer.

STAY FAR AWAY FROM THE DOHC V6's
when i was working on one at work yesterday, another mechanic saw it, came over, and told me about all the **** that goes wrong with them
it was an experimental design, more the less, and the customers were the guinea pigs
