My tranny mount went out last night at CSUN so I picked up the new Energy Suspension polyurethane mount from Autozone (lucky they were open til midnight, I didn't get out of class until 9:30)
The worst bolts to remove are the mount to the transmission bolts. I was going by the tech article on the page, and it could be different for the V6 because it specified 14 mm bolts when I found them to be 13 mm bolts. And I found it a lot easier to remove the crossmember to get to those bolts.
I would post a pic of the old mount, I can't find my digital camera's download cable. Will post it later, the rubber completely separated from the metal part.
The clunk is gone so I feel relieved about that.
EDIT: Forgot to say that made in China tools are CRAP. I probably broke every made in China tool I have getting the 13 mm bolts off!

BTT, found the pic too. Crazy that I was driving around and nothing was holding the mount to the crossmember.

I'm on tranny mount #4 myself. And the price is more like 9 bucks.

Guys with V8's and manual transmissions use the GM mount- same one used for automatic transmissions.
What exactly would be so special about a V6 manual tranny that it would need a special $300 mount? If the ES mount works for V8 manual trannies, it should work with our trannies. If not, send it back to Summit Racing, or sell it on ebay- it's only $20.

I have 5-spd. trans. The tranny mount for the T-5 tranny is more heavy-duty compared to auto tranny mounts. This is do to the fact that manual tanny's jerk a whole lot when shifing gears.

yeah i have a 92 5 speed, the guy said to replace the tranny mount, it was a dealer only part that was the motor and tranny mount all together. He said tahts the only way to buy it, and that you cant just buy a tranny mount.

Thats why when you drop the transmission, you need to support the engine from below with another hydraulic jack on the oil pan (with a piece of wood between the jack and oil pan, of course).

Know wonder my auto tranny mount held up well to my abusive driving.
I guess swapping the orig. cross-member to an auto tranny cross-member wasn't a bad thing after all.

My original cross-member had a huge hole in the center compared to the auto tranny's cross-member.
The orig. tranny mount was also big when compared to the auto tranny mount.

yeah i had my mounts break, every time i went to the track it would fail and be in two parts, so i stopped going to autozone to buy them and went to Chandlers, i have been to the track 3 times on this one its still shifting great!

I heard vibration is pretty bad with the poly mount. And you have to kind of break them in to get them not to vibrate as much? Can anyone elaborate on this? Where could I buy one of these?

not hard at all i just used a jack to hold the tranny up while i undid the crossmember , you have to drop it to reach the tranny mount, undo the tranny mount replace with new tranny mount, raise the tranny back up and bolt crossmember back up, took me about 15-20 min each time

Elevario, I never noticed any extra vibration when I went to the ES poly mount. I think that vibration thing is just an urban legend!

I don't know about vibrations, but I have heard that ES recommends putting poly tranny AND motor mounts in at the same time, to prevent flexing due to the difference in stiffness between normal and poly mounts.
The Polyurethane mount doesn't make more vibrations than the old one did. The car vibrates just as much... maybe it's time for new shocks... lifetime warranty, how long do they last anyway? There's about 30,000 on these shocks right now.
