HELP!!! Power Loss... NOT TIMING
well... my car is doin this weird thing... when i stop at a light it idles up and down... not a LOT... but between 500-1000... and when i step on the gas... it doesn't accelerate like it should... i can floor it... and it's just the same as holding it about ¼ the way down... it revs up but doesn't get a lot of power going... i went and was going to get the timing adjusted today... but the guy did the light and said the timing was "right on the money" so tha'ts not the problem... anyone have any ideas?!

35 - Idle air control problem
44 - Lean Exhaust
43 - ESC module or sensor circuit problem
those are the codes i had a while back and i'm pretty sure they are still there cuz my SES light comes on when i start up my car
i don't have a cat lol so i know it's not that... how can i check for vacuum leaks?

if the idles hopping around it might be intake manifold leak, when you push the brakes does it mess w/ the idle and lose brake pressure? mine was doin that and my intake manifold wasn't sealed totally.

well check ur cat, get some k and n airfilters, maybe ur throttle position sensor is screwy, or try cleaning ur throttle body, that helps alot, you can adjust the tb a little bit to, but i dont think that will help by what your saying. clean ur IAC, that could b the problem

You don't have a cat? Do they not have emissions where you live? Have you checked if you had one yourself? Please don't take it offensively if you have but just check right underneath that hump on the passenger side. It looks like a small muffler thing. Other things you could check real quick would be your spark plugs and wires. Make sure the plugs are at .45. Check ignition (everything real quick) Get things tested at local auto zone, or checker ( all free) Then if everything is alright, take it to the shop!

I hope the fuel pump is okay. Try borrowing a fuel pressure gauge that's meant for fuel injection (goes to 80 psi)... it screws into the Schraeder valve on the back of the silver fuel rail, under the spider-looking "plenum" on top of the motor. Car off, ENGINE COLD (no fires!!), put a rag around the base of the valve to catch any gas. Remove the valve's cap, put it in your console or pocket so you don't lose it. Screw the gauge onto the valve while using the rag to "hide" the valve- fuel can squirt out, this way, the rag catches it. You might want to wear safety glasses, too. When the gauge is on, turn the key from "off" to "run/test lights"- the position right before crank, where the dash lights come on, and you could use your radio/power windows if you wanted to. Fuel pressure should build up to ~42 PSI and hold. Remember to depressurize the gauge before you remove it so 42 PSI of fuel doesn't squirt you in the eye. Also, throw the rag outside and let it sit for a few days so the gas evaporates from it... don't just throw the rag in the trash.

Your car will act a little funny when stopping because the computer has to relearn the IAC postion but no codes should set and the learning should only take a few days of driving

I KEEP forgetting stuff!! Sorry
If you set any codes read them right away and if it's the same ones, who ever did your mechanic work didn't fix the problem all the way.
