Difficult Descision Today

My dad came up to me today, and said there was a 93 camaro for sell. It's a v6 3.4, compared to my 2.8 that i have. I only have 135 horses, compared to this beast with 160. They both have t-tops, my 89 is white, the new one is black... what should i do, i love my camaro to death, it is my first car, but this 93 seems like a steal... i don't know... it's like choosing between two hot chicks, that both want you...

My wife had a '95 V6 auto with the 3.4 liter. It was a nice car to drive, and was faster than my 3.1 liter 1992 firebird, unless I used the nitrous.

I would look at the mileage, paint and interior condition, tire condition, and included features and accessories before making my decision. Also, how old are you, and what are you going to do with the car? I am asking because I think that the newer car would be better for use as a college car, etc... but it depends on the conditon. I think that the 3rd gen would make the better project car, so if you intend to work on and modify it a bunch, I would keep the '89. Just my opinion.

As a personal note, when we got another vehicle, it was my wife's '95 camaro that got sold, not my 1992 Firebird!

Also see what mpg of both is vs your amount of driving. Also insurance, I think since its the newer body style it will go up, see the amount.
But yes, drive it, ponder it, inspect well, you are looking at buying a "mistery", vs the one you know what has been done, maintenced, etc.

Best of luck!!!

Well from your profile name (Slow2.8) and your signature line (8.9 compression 2.8 v6 crap), it sounds like you hate the engine with a passion. Might as well go get the 3.4 car, especially if the body/interior is better. I could do drivetrain work all day, but body & interior work is such a pain in the frickin' butt.

I would really look at he 93... You can get headers, cat back, nitrous, cams, rims, everything real cheap now.. Buy them fast because i know RKSport won't carry it for to much longer.

Thanks for all the replys... I know one thing, it's got a blown head gasket, but i can replace that myself and save tons of money... Thing is i just put a new interior in my car.. NOT new. but made it from ugly red to grey, i bought a whole other camaro and switched out all the parts... but my body of the car sux... three dents on the front right quarter panel, on the hood theres alot, and back right quarter panel... and little dents here and there... that would be expensive to get fixed... i have to check out the car today... if the interior is in bad condition, i can probably clean it up a bit... also heres another question, i have rims on my current 89 camaro...and i know you can put 4th gen on a 3rd gen. but is it vice versa? meaning can i put my rims on the new camaro? if you can, then most likely i'll get it... because i love my rims.. thanks

The rims from a third gen car won't fit a fourth gen car because of the amount of offset. You have seen the guys riding around with those 'reversed' rims that stick out the side of their cars about 3 or 4 inches, haven't you? That is what your 3rd gen rims would do if you put them on a fourth gen car. Brian K said it: the 4th gen cars use a FWD car offset. If the body on your car is messed up, then I would get the newer car, change the head gasket, sell your rims, and get a set for the other car. You can get a lot more styles of rims for the newer car than you can ours. That's just my $.02 worth.
