Wierd...

Cooler mornings, start up the car, blah blah....runs fine...UNTIL....throw on the defrost...then there's an excess amount of exhaut that begins to flow out, and my RPM's jump considerably. It isn't when the fan is on, but rather only when the heater/defrost is on - A/C just bogs the vehicle down. WTF is with this...?? Thank *** I'm not going to have to drive this car in another winter....!

How many rpms are we talking here? Any colors in the exhaust besides a hazy greyish? Btw, if a/c makes your car bog a little when you turn it on...does it hum too? Mine does..it's the clutch. I'd try running a can of 134-a with oil in it through the system and see if it helps the clutch a bit... The hum and powerloss is because the clutch is grinding and putting more resistance on the belt. As far as your main problem, wish I had a clue in hell but I don't.

It's the 700r4, or whatever, so it isn't the clutch... =) The main problem only seems to be when the car is cold, not nearly as bad any other time....hmm....

could be a hole in the exhaust manifold that is being picked up by the blower?

Azure... he ment the clutch on the AC compressor...

Speaking of Azure... I bowl with an Azure Zone Pro for the medium oiled lanes... I love that ball...

I'd say exhaust leaks... With my cowl hood thier worse than ever... I don't need brain cells but at least I have killing them my way... :lala:

Yeah..the clutch on the compressor is the part on the front. Just let the car run, pop your hood, and flip the a/c on, and you'll see the clutch cycle. If you're buddy-buddy with a local mechanic, he'll probably top the freon off for ya. Just run to the local parts store and pickup R-134a w/ oil (assuming you've got a converted system, which I hope you do...R-12 is expensive as hell now)...and just have the mechanic hook it up. You just gotta hold the car around 2,000 rpms I think and let it run through..that should oil up the clutch at least a LITTLE bit..might not help a lot, who knows...I still have to do it.
