Intake Manifold Gasket

alright i've been working on this 2.8 and need to put the intake manifold gaskets on. I noticed that you have to remove the pushrods in order to install the gasket. I have been trying to avoid this so i don't have to adjust the rocker arms. Can you just cut a slit into the gasket where it needs to go underneath the pushrods?

Thanx

according to felpro, do not cut the gasket.
according to the factory service manual, cut gasket only if valve train not being serviced.

I ffollowed the manual, but gooped up the cut top part of the gasket w/the black rtv just in case.
