My car is Hung!
hung/routed the I-pipe last night and have questions.
and no, moderators know better than to move a V6 topic question to the exhaust section only to be baraged w/ "Get two more cylinders" crap
pics or good discription on how the I-pipe is routed over the axle/pan hard rod. just looks weird to me. And while messing w/it, the brake line started leaking.
. needed to bleed brakes anyway bt damn

Is this a stock i-pipe or the factory i-pipe? It should go above the track bar (panhard rod) and track bar brace, both of those bars get bolted to the same bracket. And as long as the i-pipe fits into the hanger on the right rear frame rail, it's hung correctly.
Did you hang the axle by the rear brake hose??? If so, replace that brake line, it's not meant to take any kind of stress, let alone the weight of an axle. And if it's the original 1985 brake hose, you should've replaced it by now anyway (brake hoses deteriorate), so it's a good excuse to do it now

yup, might as well replace bothe brake lines & rear hose. Damn, now I might have to replace the wheel cylnders too
. will probobly have to any way, as the bleeders screws will just snap from disuse.

You're doing the hard lines, too? If you want to get snazzy and buy stainless steel brake hard lines, http://www.classictube.com sells them. I think they want $40 for stainless steel lines as opposed to $30 for regular steel. You can buy the whole frickin' front and rear kits, or, just buy the two-piece rear kit.
Or you could buy some pre-flared line and bend it yourself. Remember you use metric fittings and flares (ISO "bubble" flares) instead of the regular double flares. I got my pre-flared lines from Pep Boys, funny though, I guess they haven't realized that American cars use metric lines (f-bodies since '84), so you'll have to get the line from the "foreign/imported cars" section of brake lines.

yeah, it' the hard line ont he pa side that broke. Now that I'm back working for AZ, I can get the parts w/the 20% discount again
Fyrelance, as punishment, you get to replace both wheel cylinders, install rear hose, & bend new lines. Might as well replace both if one side can leak easily.......we're having a little get together @ my place next saturday, you can do the work while the rest of us watch :sillylol:
edit: yeah, I'll bend the lines. Did it for the driver side caliper & the tranny coolant lines, so why stop
