Takin' a break

hey guys. Just taking a break, getting a bite to eat. I'm going over my car, and repairing all the little damned rust bubbles in it. You guys want me to get a pic or two of the progress so far? I've got 5 spots I'm alternating on, and going over it for the 3rd time (sand, prime, repeat). Then I'm planning on buffing the entire car to shine again, though I bet I don't get to do that today!

no... lol, I'll take some in the morning now. it's almost 11pm here Got 5 big rust spots fixed... but isn't as glassy smooth as I want, so I'm sanding, then repriming some more.

Then I've got two dents to pull out, and wham! buff 'er to a nice shine!

Be careful; even though you think you've sanded away the rust, it'll come back... only way to kill it is either by removal or chemicals, trust me... I did that to my quarter panel, as seen here over 4 years after I did all the bodywork and sent it to Maaco...

Yeah, this was all sanded away, primed, and then painted ... looked perfect, too. At least I got a few years out of it... I guess.

When I painted my car I had a small rust spot under the side molding . I used a rust converter , it is like an acid that eats the rust and leaves a black primer finish.
when you have large areas of rust that has eaten through , such as front and rear panels you are much better off replacing the fender or welding in new quarter panels . Rust will keep on spreading under plastic filler and make the problem worse.
