Body Work (WIP) *UPDATED - PAINT!!*

Ok guys, got the first coat of paint on, wetsanded /w 400 grit.

Shot second coat, waiting on it to dry to wetsand again, then w/ 600 grit to feather it, then another coat, 400/600/1000, then clear coat it.

Here's a couple pics.

Yeah, here you can see the dent I need to take out. And the pink is fiberglass bondo, that I'm rebuilding the ground effect with. Blew a tire @ 120mph, and it broke the corner off. Rebuild with no guide!

Looks good.
Building the GFX back would be pretty hard.
Good luck.

Not trying to rain on your parade or anything, but regular Bondo will crack more than likely on the GFX. Check on the body-interior forum and you will find urethane filler is needed, and some stuff called "PRS" if there are tears in it.

Someone tried to use Bondo on my lower airdam, and it's all falling off because it will not bond properly with the urethane.

Eric is right, to a point. Its not that it wont attach, its that the part is flexable, unlike bondo, plus it expands and contracts at different ratios.

Otherwise, looks very good!!!!

I have tried hard all my life to be at least somewhat right!

On our RS I have to reapaint the rear bumper cover because when the car was painted last (prior to our ownership) flex addative was probably not used in the paint and the bumper cover is spider cracked where it flexed, I have to take it back to bare and build it up with urethane primer, then top coat with paint with flex addative.

What kind of flexing would the ground effect be doing? It's bonded on there, nice and strong... hey, if it does fail, big deal, I'll do it with the urethane filler. Live and learn, eh? for now, it'll look good!!

I don't think he should have a problem with the bondo on the side GFX.

If he were to use it on the front spoiler lip, that's another story. That lip is VERY flimsy and the majority of www.thirdgen.org says it wont work.

Feel happy you didnt find any major damage when you were sanding the paint. I almost **** myself when I found this. THis is only half of it, the damage started halfway down the bottom of the driver door, then went to the bottom of the tire well up the wheel well and stoped 6 inches from the gas door. This pic was taken after I pulled out the reall bad dents. Damn crazy woman driver that owned the car before me.
