Fastest V6 here?

Who has the fastest N/A 6 cylinder here? Initially, I had planned on doing a V-8 swap on mine, but I dont know if its worth it anymore. Maybe i'll consider rebuilding my 3.1 or swapping in a 3.4..

Anyways, whos got it? The fastest V6 here? Just curious to see what these little sixers can do with some time, money and know-how.

From the ones that truthfully reply
IT SEEMS
15 secs is possible.
Average is 17 as many still go about 18 secs or slower 1/4 miles.
AS COMPARISON!
BACK IN THE DARK 70'S SMOG DAYS!
V-8 cars running 17 secs was the common response and the magazine writers acknowledgment that was a "fast time".
I personally have not taken mine to the strip but I assume it would do a 16 et.
One day I hope to enjoy that fun and offer my truthful answer.

Who recommends a certain great drag racing tire for a peg leg car? I would put it on a 15x7 wheel

I have -actual- 1/4 mile timeslips, but I'm not the fastest. I ran a 16.87 back in '96, and the latest time for me is a 17.1. My guess is that mileage (at time of last 1/4 run, was over 200,000, now over 240,000) has taken it's toll on my motor.

I'll prolly say high 16s for good ol' me.
i have taken every single v6 bird or camaro tossed at me(Thirdgen) back when i had teh 2.8, now i have the 3.4
supposebly mid 17s are stock for the 2.8s
you can pretty much guess from there the other v6s
i believe someone guesses they can run high 15s on this board
i forgot his name
he has a list of stuff done to his 2.8... you name it... he did it.

i ran a 16.78 with a highstall converter (2500-3000), dynomax catback, posi unit, transgo shiftkit, accel supercoil, cut airboxes with k&n's, hypertech superchip. i have since blown up both converter and posi unit, however, the "new" motor has been bored .040 over, and both heads and block were zero decked so i am asuming that i would run real close to the same. i have valve-train upgrades next on my list and would like to put a 3.4 shortblock in soon.....

I got into the low 15s once 15.396 no 60ft time cause all 4 wheels were off the ground. Only got 1 run and we ran out of blackcat bottle-rockets and had to use a cheaper brand. Only takes about 5,380 of them, few rolls of ducttape and someone quick with a match.

An auto has a bit of slip but if I did a 3k launch everytime at a light or stop sign, I would have a pile of tickets.

how do cops deal with that s[h]it???I know people who got tickets for peeling out, even in the rain. wreckless driving.

course maybe its time for a stick in that thing, if ya need a 3k stall for a low 15, you could do some 32k drops and hit 15.

But true as it is, you gotta dump the clutch at 2500-3000 in a stick if you wanna get somewhere, or even higher.

Well with all this talk on 1/4 mile times, I have been curious where my little 2.8 compares. A buddy of mine has 1320ft chalked off back in a nearby industial complex so we took a run over there last night with a stopwatch, Unofficially of course but I pulled a 15.8 and then a 15.9. I'm pleasantly surprised it broke 16's (Again unofficially) but I'm still not taking this car to a dragstrip. This was also with a passenger.

I run a 2200 stall with a fully built Darrell Young tranny(V6 camaroman, a word of caution, if you run too high a stall on the street and are not maintaining that at least that stall rpm lets say freeway crusing, you will overheat your trans and wipe it out)

You have to do quite a bit of work to a 60 degree V6 to break into the low 15's for a NA motor. I don't even want to think what my 1/4 times are. After 85 mph, my car tends to give up.

im deffinitly doing the 3:73 gears and posi unit but im undecided on the stall converter. the best i can stall now is around 1500rpm because i have a stock converter. i want to atleast get a 2500 stall. i was looking at a TCI breakaway converter 1000rpm step above stock. would that work good with my motor.
