Welcome to the site, Carnie! What you found out is right; there's no turbocharger is made for our engines. They might be made for the front wheel drive cars, but not our cars. Front wheel drive motors are "Generation II" motors, and that includes both 2.8's and 3.1's. They have aluminum heads with a heart shaped combustion chamber and a splayed valve arrangement (for more power AND less weight), multec injectors, and a distributorless ignition system (DIS). Our Firebird/Camaro 2.8/3.1's are called "Generation I" motors. We have iron heads, bosch injectors, and a distributor.
So what I'm trying to say is that a turbocharger set up for a front wheel drive 3.1 (like a Beretta or Grand Prix or Cutlass Ciera or Cavalier or etc) wouldn't bolt up to our motors. People that know cars usually think there's gotta be a turbocharger or supercharger for our cars/engines, but there isn't. There was a supercharger, but it was made for the carbureted 82-84 2.8 Camaros & Firebirds & S10 Blazers, and isn't being made anymore.
Any turbocharger will work on our motors, though, but everything has to be fabricated from scratch. That includes, but isn't limited to, brackets and wiring and tubing and pullies and exhaust pipes and fuel injectors and ....... yep, the list is long. That's why nobody's done it yet. Whoever does it first (and shows proof) will be the first person in the world to do it. The "proof" is the important part. We've had jokers come in here saying their motor is turbo'd, but when we ask for proof, we get none, and they never come back.

Well, first off I知 going to see if I can do that, if I can't find the money (wink, wink). Other wise I知 going to take a Grand Pre engine and put it in my car. That way I can have the power to hang with my homie out in north cal. I知 tired of slowness virses all of the V8s that my friends have. Or I was going to get a LT1 so I can use the TPI chip and get real good speed to hang with me homies. Plus I rather have a V8 carousing car rather than my V6. Not trying to knock on all V6 I知 just tired of driving them when all my friends have a V8 and I知 about 7 car lengths behind them. I really enjoy having my V6 I just more speed, just love the body my RS has, that痴 why I wont buy a new car. I just love the way my car sits on the ground and handles, and the body style of the RS, one of these days I値l get a T-top put on. Are they good to put aftermarket ones on? Or well the water seep threw it after a wile.
