3.4 Idea

As everyone knows I am about to do the 3.4 swap. Once the new suspension goes in I will be looking at a 3.4.

This is what I have been thinking, get the 3.4, strip the intake and heads and add part #24507577 fromhttps://www.spoperformanceparts.com/ for the heads

Do a full match port and polish on the heads and 2.8 intake, port the TB, send the 3.4 injectors out to be cleaned and flow matched, replace all the gaskets keep the A/C and smog delete, add a trans-go to the tranny, a nice cam, get the dynomax exhaust, and MAYBE change out the torque converter and leave it at that. I figure I can get the motor done over time and then swap it all in next winter of a week over the summer. I will save a lot of money because I can do everything but the injectors myself.

Are 3.4's still going for $800 or have the prices droped?

I figure I can do it for about 2k and I could beat up on some fords and ricers

Don't forget a new timing chain also.

I payed 960 for mine, and that includded shipping from arizona to arkansas. Otherwise it was 700 for engine only.

Buy the OTC 3.4 for better results.
So it costs more.
It'll serve your purpose better.

Reason my cost was so high, I am doing the full swap, and mine came with all the accesorrys on the front, ac, alt, power steering, engine harness, ecm. It was litterly, pull out, slap on crate and off it goes.

It had 71k miles on it, and once I took it apart, it was VERY clean on the inside. I also belive it has/had a brand spanking new starter on it. Not one spec of dirt, and still had warrnaty stickers on it :P

What does OTC stand for?

I am hoping to find one with lower miles guys just because I do not want to have to have the cylinders bored, replace the bearinings, have the crank freshened up, blah blah blah. Less money means nicer goodies.

I knew a guy in Oklahoma (I used to live there) that did the swap with a 5 speed and I never got around to asking why he Dynoed at (stock motor). Does anyone know any dyno numbers (rear wheels) with an automatic? Or 1/4 mile times?
I am not going to go all out with this, just all that I listed above, I will probably pass on the torque converter and just go with an aluminum drive shaft. The car only weight 2,200ish as is (iron heads, stock hood)
Thanks
David
