89 Knock Sensor?

I found this connector loose in the back of the engine bay. I'm thinking it's the knock sensor, but I didn't see one in the wiring diagram in the chilton's (not that that's a first). It's just a single green wire. I just replaced the ignition module, and now when you hit the throttle under load, it sounds like it's knocking, no matter where you set the timing. I thought that the knock sensor was on the passenger side mounted to the head, but I didn't see it there. Thanks, Joe

Looks like the knock sensor wire to me.

Mine is right around the starter, down low, pass side.

If you need to replace it, go with one for a 96 corvette (LT4) they are supp to be better and give less fasle readings.

i don't think they put knock sensor in the 2.8. i thought that was new to the 3.1's.

That's what I thought too, but the parts store showed one for the engine.

Thanks for the help Dale. Did you have to get under the car to get to it, or is it accessible from the top? Also, is there some trick to getting the connector off?

It would be easier from under the car. Like you were fixing to pull the starter. To get it off, you squezie the outter edges that buldge. CAREFULLY, it is brittle now and might crack. To get the acutaul sensor out, you crank it out, but make sure car is cold because anti-freeze will come out when its out.

Any engine that runs fuel injection has a knock sensor.

This maybe a stupid question , but what are the signs of a bad knock sensor ? Does your engine just knock under load ?
