HI GUYS I'M NEW ON THE BORD JUST WANTED TO INTRODUCE MYSELF. I HAVE AN 85 FIREBIRD 2.8 WITH A 3 SPEED AND OVERDRIVE.IT HOWELS WHEN IN GEAR I THINK I NEED A NEW TRANNY .

I GOT IT OCT 2 02 ITS WAS IN REALLY BAD SHAPE
BUT ME AND MY MACHANIC/DAD DID THE BODY AND UNDERCARRAGE WITH A COMBO OF A CARAVAN,300M,AND JEEP SHEET METAL+ ALOT OF TAR AND OIL.
THIS WAS SOPOSED TO TAKE 2 YEARS BUT WE DID IT IN 2 MONTHS BUT HERE I GOTTA WAIT 2 YEARS TO DRIVE IT SO MY MOM WILL HAVE TO DRIVE IT IN THE SUMMER

who is this firebird/intrepid dude he says he has a 3.5 intrepid motor thats a fwd but they did use that motor in the prowler but the tranny was in the back the conected the drive shaft from the engine to the trans in the transaxel in the rear. that thing has 253hp i think total

 

are you sure you have a 3speed tranny, cause i think all the thirdgens came with 4speeds... and that dude is just a troll.. had no proof. and in a matter of a couple days he had the 3.5 out and a 2.8 back in...

 

I once put in an 8.1 Viper motor, but then I had to pull it out the next day.

86 SC he said 3 speed with overdrive, hes talking about the 700-r4 but there was a 3 speed auto in the 82-84 cars the 200c

He's probably just considering Overdrive as a separate gear. Most of us are used to 4 speed w/ overdrive, where overdrive is considered the 4th speed...he's probably just referring to Overdrive as separate from the 3 other speeds. The whole 4 speed w/ overdrive thing confused me for a while..thought it was separate..here I was wondering why 5 speeds were so much quicker when us autos had 5 gears too.

 

Firebird/intrepid and this guy ARE the same. I'm going to try to ban them both.

 

That was my imediate suspect.

From the look of his post he knew too much typing info and also how to navigate the boards too well for a so called newbie.

 

and a little too much about the prowler engine...what a stupid ****er.

 

And he also had to mention his mechanic dad and Chrysler/Dodge parts as well.
