car stalled out and didnt start@!

this moring i whent to my car to drive to school and it started fine it was really cold and i drove out of my driveway and out to the street.. a 1/2 mile later i made a left turn and my car sputterded and stalled. and would not start so i floored it and it started and sputered. so i let it warm up a little and tried to go but it stalled agin. so i got it to start agin and let it run for 3 min in the road then it ran fine.

would this be because of the tb bypass? has this ever happen to anyone b4?

How cold is it there?? Was it stalling only on braking/deceleration? Possible the IAC valve could be a little sticky and acting up from the cold...

FYI-

If it stalls, it's normal for it not to want to start again. Mine normally fires up in 1 second or less...2-3 when it's cold. But if it stalls, it cranks over for a good 4-5 seconds or so until it starts.. Probably floods out just a little during the stall.

IAC = Idle Air Control..

Shouldn't be the IAC valve if it was during acceleration then... a sticky IAC valve causes very abrupt stalls during deceleration or braking. Still a good idea to clean it though..it's on the passenger side of the throttle body. Probably has 2 torx screws holding the cover down over it, and it's got a wiring bundle clipped vertically into it. Was the engine given time to warm up at all or did ya just turn it on and take off like I do? Lol...

Don't know crap about heater cores...but if you start seeing water, probably in the passenger side of the car, somewhere around the dashboard area, possibly going through the vents, don't know where it is on these cars..but if you see that, it's the heater core blown and leaking water.

The IAC valve can be cleaned using carburetor cleaner.... I've spent the last 20 mins (LITERALLY!) trying to get you a scanned photo from my Haynes manual...since it's dark out and my digital camera sucks. But here it is..I circled the area around the IAC valve.

nixon has a pretty good idea of what a blown heater core looks like believe me...mine just blew a couple weeks ago and it was terrible

i was driving and noticed my temp gauge kept rising and that my heat and defrosters werent working i also smelled what seemed to be antifreeze

not long after i noticed this some kinda smoke came billowing out of all of my vents

i pulled over and sure enough there was a huge puddle of antifreeze on passenger floor

i know nothing about this kinda stuff but when i took it to get fixed the guy told me that the core in our cars is somewhere around the center console....? i have no clue

I'm a lucky one actually....my heater core is still in great shape! BUT, my buddy's 65 Mustang..his heater core blew before my eyes. I was sitting in his passenger seat as he was ******* the car around a little and I'm like 'uh..dude..I see smoke' and he's like 'where??'...it was coming out of his defrost vents, in front of the windshield..I popped open the big air vent 65's have on the bottom and out came fluid..needless to say he freaked out and drove straight home. That was an interesting experience. Almost as funny as the time this same guy in the same car pulled over and parked, turning the car off, to go tease some cows...well, he teased a bull, who came towards us very threateningly so we jumped in the car and lo and behold, it wouldn't start. Took us 10 mins...we finally ended up turning the crankshaft a little and it freed it up...we thought we were gonna die..

I gotta ask though..what relevance does bringing up heater cores have to do with this topic?

You know a heater core can go bad and it wont do any of those things. But every time you come back to your car the windows are fogged up on the inside and sometimes you even get frost on just the inside windows.

Gumby...can that happen even after like a whole day of sitting? Cause very frequently I walk out to get in my car..and my Mustang, which has a disabled heater core, the windows are fine..but the Camaro the windshield is fogged to hell.

Food for thought!! Oh well..Camaro is for sale. Like I care now. Teehee..I'm also telling them my bad water pump (I THINK it's a bad water pump) is probably just a belt squeal. Nothing wrong with playing a little stupid if it's not misleading!
