3.4 to 3.8

My brother is thinking about swapping a 3.8 into his 93 camaro in place of his 3.4, I have so far told him his best bet is to find a wrecked 3.8 car but he is concerned about cost and time. About how much should this swap cost in time and money, ballpark figures. thanx in advance.

swap

Whereas I have no clue about the cost of a 3.8L, I'm curious as to why he doesn't just go to an LT1? It probably wouldn't cost much more.

In all honesty, a LT1 would probly be cheaper, and require all the same parts.
Again the 2.8/3.1/3.4 's are a 60* block.
The 3.8/4.3/small blocks/big blocks are 90* blocks. So to swap from a 3.4 to a 3.8, is just about worthless. as swapping to the engine in question will require everything that will be needed to go Small block.
As far as finding a seller, you can check Ebay, www.car-part.com , local yards. Though you will probly want to find a wrecked V8 version so you will not be dimed to death. You then sell the scraps to a yard for a small return.

3.4->3.8 UNLESS IT'S A HACK JOB,
Find another 3.8/V-8 platform to work forward from.
I've seen to many wrecks of 4th gens lately.
TO Easy to find the right stuff.

you are so right, just seen a 4th gen not that long ago with the rear end about 1/4 mile down the road ahead of him. he got on the eway hot, lost it into the wall and the rear end left him behind.

Im sure for a second it was funny.
