transmission problems
I have the T-5 transmission on my 'bird and today something screwed up in the transmission. I personally dont have too much details on it since I wasnt driving it, my old man was since I had it in my hometown getting some work done on it. What i was told that happened was that he was driving down the highway and he heard a pop or kind of a klunk from the transmission and when he got to where he was going, it was stuck in one gear but the shifter would still go into any gear, but it would stay in the gear that it is stuck in and not go into reverse for example. I am wondering if anyone knows whats wrong or if i should just rebuild it or get a new one or just go get myself a T-56 tranny.

Best way? DROP IT. sounds like a possible, guide lever. but who knows. You will have to drop it, rip it apart and see for yourself. If you find it's thrashed, go to a junk yard get another T-5 and swap boxes ONLY. Remount your old bell housing.

happned to me twice. once it got stuck in 5th and the second time it got stuck in 4th. 100-125 buck will get you a good used one.
stuck in 4th wasnt too bad but getting a car going from a dead stop in 5th takes a long long long time, many stalls and a little push, run and jump in wouldn't hurt.
