Well, looks like my plans have changed again, LOL.

Well, after looking at Irocs and Z28's in various conditions and prices, I have decided to keep my 2.8 Bird. The Nice Z28's were going for like 5K and up, and most others had high mileage, and needed only minor work, but a little too much for me to put into it.

For another 4K, I could get my hands on a decent 85-90 Vette. I have decided not to get a Z28 because Everything I didn't like about my Bird, most of the issues would occur with the Z.

What it came down to is how much I want to put into the car. A Vette is one of the few cars I like 100% stock, except for wheels. I like the stock look of 91-92 Zs, but there is still a lot I would want to change. The modifications I had planned for the Z28 would cost more than the modifications and the price of a the Vette. I don't want to spend a lot on my next car so that is why I decided not get a 92 Z28.

I plan on keeping the 2.8l and only adding a cam and roller rockers and getting the body work and paint done. I may take some classes or ask some of my auto body friends to help me so that I could do some of the body work myself. It will be my daily driver. I love thirdgens a little too much to give mine up.

So, it looks like I will be here awhile.

Cuz I'm lazy and don't want to spend weeks on doing the swap and getting all the V8 stuff I would need to get it to work right. I don't mind that my thirdgen is not fast, since I don't like to drive fast most of the time.

I change my mind more times than I can count. I wish could firmly decide on something and stick with it.

When you get the itch for mods email me. I know a place that is going to be offering ported stock heads and headers as well as other things for these V6 F cars. Maybe a twin turbo setup?

I suggest you stop using such fowl language. That is a rude and offensive statement on this board.

I don't really understand why some of you take offense to this suggestion. That would be the most logical thing to do aside from buying a V8 car in the first place.

Devian, like I said, wanna go fast? Email me if you want to spend a few dollars and make us V8 guys look bad

I don't need to go fast in this car, that is what my next car will be for. I am interested in making my thirdgen 2.8l a little faster in the lower powerband.

Headers for the small investment will make more power and gas mileage. Want some?

icehole

If he was interested in the V8 it would have been more apparent and also probably would of gotten the thread locked or moved.

3 things tip me of that he is not interest in the V8, besides that its not posted in the motor swap section.

“For another 4K, I could get my hands on a decent 85-90 Vette. I have decided not to get a Z28 because Everything I didn't like about my Bird, most of the issues would occur with the Z. ”

“I plan on keeping the 2.8l and only adding a cam and roller rockers and getting the body work and paint done.”

“So, it looks like I will be here awhile.”

Seams to me that he said he wants too keep his 2.8 and find a Vette when his pocket book agrees more.

"Put a V8 in it" is a rude and offensive statement on this board and an opinion that should not be offered until asked for.

Gumby is right, I am not interested in putting a V8 into my thirdgen. I would much rather buy a Vette when I have some decent income coming in because a Vette no matter what year it is pretty much more valuable than any thirdgen, and most of them have a better build quality and are a bit nicer than thirdgens. Plus, it is more exotic than too.

I still need an economical car, which is another reason why I don't want to do the V8 swap. My car is not going to be a track star, I only use it to go back and forth from home to college and run about in town. So what if my car is a few seconds slower, it doesn't bother me as much as I may make it sound. If It bothered me that much, I would have already started on a V8 swap.

IROC57TPI,

Those headers you speak of, do they come with an EGR fitting on the passenger side? Because I like to keep my car smog legal as much as possible, even though it cuts some bhp. Although I am not strapped for cash, I don't think it would be a good idea for me to spend a lot of money on my car right now.

If I have some money burning a hole in my pocket, I will definately think about it.

They do have EGR the EGR fitting. Look at the "prototype headers" thread for pics. They are nice and will increase MPG.
