3.4 Powered Blazing New Trials!
3.4 Powered Blazing New Trials!
After about one year of sitting.
My 3.4 Powered Blazer does run!
Not doing to bad running, either.
I got chance to drive it up a hill in local neighborhood and I could feel the torque!
I await next weekend to sort out things.
It's supposed to rain in SoCal this week (often) so today was an important day to find out if I could get it to start!
Problems so far.
Ticking.
I hope/believe it's just a plug wire not seated correctly.
I adjust valves by compression and I got 150 on all cylinders.
Gauges working not right nor add on tach. I hot wired the electric fuel pump into (what I believe is) the choke wiring. I confirm this suspicion this week as I dive into my Helms shop manual for answers.
BUT what guages that do work I got decent temp (160+) & decent oil pressure (60 lbs+). No volt reading, tho.
As I said I believe my electric fuel pump wiring hook up is the cause for this problem.
I haven't set timing yet (I adjust by ear). I have to back off distributor to get it to start (SO I ASSUME I've advanced it to far).
As long as I can keep it idling, I'm ahead of the game for settling any issue.
SO FAR not a leak at all (oh one, slight drip outta tranny connection BFD!)
BUT DRIVING IT was such a treat, especially up a hill and feeling power again. That was worth the effort for that smile! I await until this week to "open the secondaires" (less neighbors around to bitch ya know!)
Belle Blazing Bolts is up & running!
Onto the oil leak in the Firebird (oil filter housing bolt replacement) then rebuild a motorcycle for the Spring/Summer (swap engine for a lower milage running long block I scored from Indiana & add a 1970s vintage racing flaring set up)!
Who cares about high gas prices! I got V-6 power rides & a motorcycle!
