clutch safety switch...

Has anyone replaced their clutch safety switch?

If so, did your car start when the safety switch was bad?

I can start my car without depressing the clutch. And my cruise control doesn't work either. So I'm thinking these two problems are related.

there are two switches on the clutch pedel. On that is closed when you don't have the clutch pedel pressed, this controls the cruise control, the other is the switch that controls the starter, that is only closed when you have the clutch oedel all the way in. I had to replace the Starter one on mine, and after i was done, it started up perfectly. Chances are that both could be bad. Take a small rubber foot, you can get tham at the grcery store, they are the ones that are stiky on one side and rubber on the other and stick it to the pedel where it touches the switch, this could help temporarily. Replace both switches, since they are only like $10 or so and only take about 10 minutes to put in. Good Luck

My car starts w/out pressing the clutch. Maybe the previous owner bypassed the safety switch. I checked the switch and it doesn't seem bypassed (it's still connected to the harness).

The previous owner also had the clutch replaced as well.

I don't know, I'm lost.

The switches are bad. Replace them both and you'll be all right. They're only like $10 each, so even if they wern't the problem, you just invested $20 to ensure that they won't go bad in the future. That's how I think of everything. And trust me, with the amount of work i've put into my car, it had better run for the next 15 years.
