about 4 grand just to keep it running. that includes new motor, transmission, and many other pieces of junk. So, w/ that much invested, there's no reason to sell the car, guess i'll be having to do the Ls1 swap to make my life worthwhile. lol.
well i dunno how much i dumped into the car really...
umm... 100 bucks total for pulleys and install service
400 bucks for dual exhaust
300 prior to that back with my original exhaust setup
and i think i'm going back to the set up so add about another 500 within the next year...
3.4L engine was 350... installing was roughly like 300...
the intake total was 150 bucks
i got ripped off... but then again i didn't pay for it...
the intake is awesome... its just that putting it in cost me an arm and a leg... and it looks great...
80 bucks for MSD Helicore wires...
i would have more stuff... but thanx to a hit and run accident(i was hit) i had to pay a shhhload of money...
i plan on spending about another 700 bucks soon
i really don't know how much power i have
i'd guess anywhere between
160-190 horses
200-230 torque
thats just a guess... i know i'm not stock, but i'm not producing high numbers either

Lets just say that if I were offered $15,000 for it I would not sell it. (no one would offer that either) I don't ever intend to sell it.

I've put in about $1200-$1400 total, including cost of car & engine swap. May not seem a lot compared to some, but I've spread the money out over a year and half. not too expensive that way
for the answer, please do a search on the 345,679 locked threads on that discussion.

It's my hobby and my money, so I don't care.If you want to put it into perspective, some people collect rare stamps... imagine buying a stamp for $5000. Doesn't mean much to you or I, but it means something to the guy who dropped $5k.
Eventually, I'll have a v8 as a project car- but don't count on me selling my '86.

$1400 for the car
$30 for 16x8 IROC wheels, and rear end
$8 for 245/5016s up front, and $255/50/16s in the back
$100 for 4th gen seats
$40 new fender
$40 misc j-yard parts (trim pieces, hatch motor)
$200 for '89 T5 WC (spare)
about $75 tune up parts
so about $1900 so far. Runs superb, clicked a traction limited 17.4 @ 79mph... just straight piped the cat, going to up to 12ş timing, and let you all know Wednesday how that runs.

You build your Iroc to the max and it will not be able to hang with my car built to the max with a lighter V6 up front. Your car will still have the notorious push known to V8's that the V6's wont suffer from- more neutral weight bias front to rear because the V6 is lighter by almost 200lbs than the V8. Fact is fact- A V6 built right will out handle a V8 built right.

Good point Agood28, all them super cars are almost 50/50 front to rear weight ratios. I never even thought of that before.
Alot of the money I have spent on mine was little nickle dime stuff.
Forgot to list the brand new hatch motor I bought, and some of the apperence, and "upgrade" parts that werent 100% needed, but while I'm working on it, upgrade it!!!
200 for hatch motor
175 for hood
35 for fender and noses.
175 for blisterpacks
25 for fender lights.
Somewhere I have a list of every part I bought up tell the time it ran.
Anyone know where a 34mm/21mm swaybar setup is cheap?

All I know is I coulda bought a decent TPI car for the amount of money I dumped in. But having the V-6 probably kept me alive when I first got the car. Now it is finally a moderatly reliable driver (I drive it to college and back, 250 miles each way) and I have the T/A to dump money in.
Well, let me see:
1200 for car
250 for tires
200 for rims
50 for cat
150 new rear seat
15 fuel filter
30 for gaskets for my exhaust
30 for paint for my rims
150 for stuff that I forgot
=$2075
Now that I have a job I am going to be saving up my money so that I can build a new engine. Don't hate me for this but I am building a 383 with vortec heads, SDPC base, SLP runner and stock ported upper plenum. I am getting a nice tranny and a ford 9 inch rear. I will always love the V6 but I am yearning for more power.

$200---Accel 300+ and coil
$13----Accel Cap and Rotor
$10----180 degree thermostat
$50----MSD 8.5mm wires
$50----Accel Ignition Module
$40----Bosch Platnum +4 spark plugs
$30----Seat covers to replace rip in seat
$8-----Cushion pad for driver seat, more comfortable
$110--BMR sway bar and poly bushings
$140--KYB struts and shocks
$50---Borla Exhaust tips
$1000-GTA wheels (new) + Nitto 450 tires
$50----K&N Filter
$20----Materials for CAI
$60----Silicon Hoses
$130--Dynomax Cat-Back
$100--High Flow Cat (GM)
$500--Kenwood CD player w/Pioneer speakers
$30---EGR valve
$300--R134a conversion (done right)
So I have at least $2,891 invested in my car right now. I don't consider repair costs because it is a part of normal maintance that every car needs over time. Lots of the things mentioned were repairs too.
Considering that most people have $2000 in just stereo equipment in thier cars, I don't think that is alot spread over 4 years.
I can't tell you what hp and torque, but my car runs a lot better than when I first got it. I don't care about bhp and tq numbers. I am concerned more about how much time they take off my 0-60.
Bone stock it was 11. Now it is down into the mid to upper 8 second range. I never ran the 1/4 so I don't have a time for that.

LOTS, just to keep it running. The reason I keep dumpning the money into a V6 is because I can't afford the insurance/gas on a V8. I've put sooo much money into this thing, that I have to keep it forever. My kids are gonna drive this thing once I get my 2002 35th SS. =) That's gonna be a while though, so the good ol' sixer is good for me. As long as I am a good enough driver to be able to show the ricers what's up, then I'm happy.
Well, I guess i have more in my car than most of you do...
Car- roughly 12,000 dollars, February 1, 1992 From Elliott Popham Pontiac Olds Buick GMC.
Rims- $175
tires-$275
suspension bushings- $85
Shocks& struts- $150
9 bolt posi disc brake rear- $400
NOS nitrous system- $460
Stereo system- $900
Catback exhaust- $250
High flow Cat- $120
I can't think of anything else right now, so the grand total is: $14,815. This is all the mods I have done since I bought the car new, with 6 miles on it. I didn't count the repair stuff, like having to put a new oil pan on it when i ran over a rock in the road and knocked a small hole in it, etc...

$900 for the car.
$75 dollars for a tune up
$110 New Radiator
$125 Redone the brakes - Master, Caliper, Rear Cylinders,Pads, Shoes, Profanity, Mess, etc.
Needs - Sail Panels, Headliner, Dash Pad, Visors, R134A Conversion, A V8, A new tranny to go with the V8, Shocks, Struts, New Vacuum Hoses, Something to add bass to the stereo system, grille, paint, oil pressure sending units, exhaust manifold gaskets, on and on.....
Just Another $2K~$3K if I'm lucky, and I'll still have a 17 year old car
Why did I buy this thing? Oh Yeah , It's a Camaro. And It's Mine. Non-Camaro owners and wives just don't understand.

Ok considering I got the car in 89 for $8000.00 w/ 17,000 miles. Very good deal back then...

So I have close to 12,500 in stuff I paid out…
Again remember this current stuff was done little by little, since 99…
That’s around $200 a month, way less then a new car payment, and you know, I would have to mod a new car…
Now before you Flame me about the looks stuff, it is a SHOW car & my DAILY DRIVER. My ONLY car (wagon died & dually will not fix...)
Remember engine swaps take time...& I'm about even b/w performance and looks…
Now I need new track times to see what the new performance mods have done (rear, shift kit, torque converter, fixed timing) (finally) & chip…. But I'm guessing I should be in the impressive end of 2.8 performance finally...
Also to note yes I could have put in a V-8 with the $ I have spent, but until recently i could not do it myself, nor did I have a good idea of what I wanted...
The original LT1 idea...its going in the 82...the n I can drive it and take down RAIF for a 3.8 turbo (TTA or GN motor) We know someone who has a GN motor, hopefully Joe & I can do some painting for him and offset the cost of the motor and I can get it...
I'm sure I will leave out a ton of stuff and even more I don't have $ figures on or that I will have wrong $ on....
REMEMBER THIS IS A SHOW CAR!

Misc maintenance over the years...who knows!
Current maitenance I and boyfriend have done in past 2 years chasing crazy backfire and 100,000 mile drivability issues (no labor costs) replace sensors, plugs, wires, gaskets, blah, blah, blah...$1000.00 or so

Wow, you guys keep track of what you spend? That's cool. I started a notebook when I first got my car; I think I have my first oil change written down in it, and that's it. Damned if I know where the notebook is, either!
