Long tube header pics...

Ok they are not on the car yet. I have to get the dually running right so I can have something to drive while we mock it up...

They are rough, just sand blasted to remover the horrible rust. I will clean them up and get some header coating for now. If all goes well on the install I will send them off to be ceramic coated!

looks good. Are you going to fab a mount for the EGR or is the new prom setup for no EGR?

Not bad for $15.00! Yes there are some dents in the piping. We may try to fix all that, but we want to be sure they will infact fit and that the dents were not done for clearancing. And yep they came off a junkyard Firebird. We had to cut them off with a hack saw. the whole thing was welded to the ypipe and cat. The y pipe was and absolute abomination, so we did not get it. talk about dents and crushed pipe!. The muffler shop still does not believe me. We will find a way to make them work though!

Well right now I ahve the EGR blocked off and the car passed emissions fine, so i will probably ask the emissions guys if I need it for the visual, if not, I will ditch it all together. I'm not sure how Sean set up the new prom, if it delats the EGR or not. I will ask him. Worst case if the Emission place wants it there I will fab up a bracket to hold it to fake them, but I'm not making a Egr plate into these headers!

If the car is lowered excessively they won't fit- no room for the Y-pipe (hence why the one you saw in the junk yard was abused)
I own 2 sets of these- 1 Hooker (same as yours) and 1 Heddman Both with EGR hookups. I am opting not to use these and am having PF&E build me a set that will have proper routing for the Y-pipe.

Here's a pic of my Hookers with EGR:

i have some ground clearance issues right now but i don't have the y-pipe on the car that i'm actually going to use. my y-pipe right now is flexpipe welded and spliced together. you can pull the tranny crossmember out and customize it so that to y-pipe can go trhough/under it the clearance should be no issue at all. that's what i will be doing before long (hopefully in a couple more weeks).

Sorry, Don't want to part with them. They are too rare- I may decide to use them in the future just for a weekend roadrace motor, just run them uncorked and drop an entire carbed motor in with headers attached and go.(screw the computer harness) who knows? we'll have to see what kind of power I can get out of a 3.4. I'm deinately planning on running the PF&E headers and y-pipe for street and show use.

As far as the drop...well the car is sitting a bit lower then stock. Eibach prokit...it probably sits 1.5 inchs lower then stock, or .5 lower then my original sagging stock springs!

Will it route over to the stock cat location with a custom Y-pipe? Or will that bend be too restrictive? We have yet to really get it in the position to try and fit these babies on. Heck we have not even gotten it on a lift to really take a good look at routing!

And once installing them, what did you have to get bolt wise to get the accessory brackets to all connect back in at the right angles? Did you use the factory bolts and studs, and then use spacers? The factory manifolds seem way thicker where they mount up to the engine.

So are the hooker or heddman headers still being produced? Are they listed for our cars, or for S-10s? What did they cost new? Just curious!

Please post pics on the car...esp one from the bottom if you have it. We're trying to figure out how to retain the cat with this pipe, and whether or not it has to be moved back from the stock location.

Yes, please. I know yours is temporary, but it would be a big help to know where the end of the headers come out so we can preplan and show the exhaust shop, so he can think of some ideas for a good y-pipe.

if you would like more pics or bigger pics, let me know. i'll see if i can get better bottom side pics this weekend maybe. remember, that is just flex pipe under there, 2.25" collectors and the same size single pipe all the way to the mufflers, not too cool. i've got a 3" 'cat-back' setup on the way though. and i am going to get a good 2.25" y-pipe made to go back to the 3"pipe. i am running no egr, hasn't given me any problems, no bracket on the backside of the alternator, no problems and the fuel line bracket is not hooked to anything. i bought new socket head bolts (use allen wrench to tighten/losen).
