check engine light problems....

I have a really weird thing going on with my check engine light. Whenever I first start up the car it goes on. Then, if I shut down the engine then turn it back on again the check engine light does not come on and stays off. Does anyone know why it could be doing this. I have reset my computer and everything by disconnecting the battery. But, the problem keeps coming back. I have pulled the codes before and it says that I am getting a code 34:MAF sensor, and code 54:fuel pump circuit. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Click on <a href="search.php?s="><img src="images/top_search.gif" alt="Search" border="0"></a>, and search for "code 34 chart" by "TomP" on the "V6 Forum". Then search for "code 54 chart" by "TomP" on the "V6 Forum". I typed both charts straight out of the GM Service Manual for you guys. They're easy to trace, and I pretty much spelled everything out in 'em. Good luck!

But Tom do you have any idea why it would come on the first time I start it, then when I turn it off and start it again, the light does not come on?

Probably because you're confusing it? Beats me. You'll have to run the charts to find the problem.

OK, thanks for the help. I found those charts and will probably run through them tomorrow.
