oil pressure sending unit

oil pressure sending unit

is this the oil pressure sending unit? it goes into something right over my oil filter, and has an electrical wire plugged into it wrapped in wireloom. its covered in oil but not dripped, just caked on. is this the sending unit? my oil pressure gauge doesnt work. this is on a 1990 3.1L.
