Oil pressure?

Just fixed my sending unit and gauge and sometimes my oil pressure is 70-75. today i started it for the first in 48 hours and the pressure was pegged at 80psi. after a while it drops to around 70 or 75. when driving i see it drop to around 40psi every once in awhile. is this normal for a 3.1L? does high oil pressure indicated that theres something wrong, clog somewhere or something? i noticed that the v8 engines had 0-60 gauges, do the v6's just need higher pressure?

I don't know about the need for more pressure, but I do know my 3.1 always had high pressure (70 psi min) sometimes at idle it would drop to 40.

High oil pressure is always good. Mine rarely drops below 70 and like his sometimes hits 40 at idle. Other than that it is always at 80 when accelerating, so I think its completely normal, I thought I had a problem as well. From my understanding high oil pressure is a good thing.
