87 firebird frontend on an 89

Can anyone tell me if the frontend of an 87 firebird will fit on an 89. I think that it will, but I just want to make sure. Thanks

Chris

I have an '84 front clip on my '86... they -all- fit! Note that there are 4 bolts that hold each fender to the front bumper cover. Two are real bolts, 10mm's, and can be seen from the bottom of the bumper. Two are "fake" nuts, just metal stampings. I believe I used a deep 7/16" socket on them. Your -best- access will be to remove the headlights.

KEEP IN MIND PANEL ALIGNMENT!! If you remove the headlights, you need to keep the original alignment. Use a can of spray paint over the headlight bolts/frame so you can put the headlight back. The holes are slotted, which allows the headlight to be aligned to the hood, fender, and bumper. It's important to align with the hood. If you're not aligned correctly, when you turn on the headlights and the door flips up, the door can scrape the hood cutouts. I unplug the motor, and work the **** by hand to check alignment of the hood to the headlight doors. Pop hood, turn **** a bit, close hood slowly- if no interference with headlights, click the hood so it latches, check alignment. Pop hood, turn **** a bit more, close hood slowly, etc etc over and over again until the headlight's all the way up. It takes a LONG time but it's worth it to protect your paint.
