anyone who has purchased underdrive pulleys please share your experiences. i was debating making them(i work at a macjine shop at school) and was wondering what the dimensions are on the pulleys, also if there is really any benefit from putting them on, and any problems you experienced.

Have them, gives tad bit better low end. Supposibly increases mpg, takes tad away from charging.
IMO, you cant make one for the price of buying one.

Underdrive pulleys are good.
The only thing to make sure of is that you have a high output alternator. Throughout the years, there were many different kinds of alternators used. They varied from anywhere from 65, to 90 amps I believe.
If you happen to have one of the lower output alternators, and you've since added things like a high wattage stereo, or power door locks / mirrors, what have you, it might be a good idea to go with a newer high output alternator.

Hey Doward,
It must have come pretty loaded. Is it a Firebird? Did it come with that rare factory subwoofer option with the dual subwoofers in the B-pillars? That's a pretty sweet option. You would know you have it if you have a little button on your dash that has a little "musical note" on it. It might also say "Performance Sound" somewhere.

My '86 has either a 105 or 95.. I forget...
It came when you got air conditioning. 'Fact, my '84 parts car, with a/c, had the little 65 amp alternator. Not sure when the "larger" alternator started... somewhere between 84 and 86..

I have it on my car, this is an excerpt from my RPOs.
K60 : GENERATOR, 100 AMP
I have a 1990 Camaro RS with a 3.1 with A/C, power locks, and power trunk.
Just thought I would share! So if you got the letters K60 in your RPOs then you've got the 100AMP alt!
