Injectors
So, how much damage did I do by pulling the original injectors on a 2.8 ('89) that sat for 4 years, and cleaning them with carb cleaner?. I energized the injectors with a small motorcycle battery, 12v. and then ran cleaner thru the injectors to clear out the old fuel, followed by an air hose to blow out any other stuff.
I'm thinking that I probably should replace them. The rail is in very clean shape. What is the flow rate on these multec injectors? 19 ? I have not reinstalled them yet, but two were not firing when I finally got the thing started. Compression is good, plugs are new, good hot spark everywhere.

If you're talking about your injectors, they're not Multecs. The Multecs came out with the 3.1; your 2.8 should have Bosch.
I never heard of such a cleaning method; you might want to ask on the TPI board or the general tech board.

2.8 injectors are 15lbs stock either in the fiero, firebird,or camaro..
call any auto parts or summit racing and ask for replacement injectors for the 2.8 ask them what flow rating they are im willing to bet your wrong! 15lbs is what they are

They were 15lb in fieros becuase they had a higher output rating.
Heres the formula for a n/a engine
(hp rating X .50)/(Injector quanity X .80)=injector flow NEEDED
2.8l:
(125 X .50)/(6 X .80)=13.02
So they NEED 13lb injectors, now what gm did was up to themselfs.
3.1l:
(140 X .50)/(6 X .80)=14.58
3.4l:
(160 X .50)/(6 X .80)=16.66

multiply your cars max horsepower by.45 (nonturbo) .55 for turbo
then devide by the number of injectors this will give you your flow rating>>>>> also 2.8 85 and up had 135 hp not 125...

Yeah, I was gonna say that... I think you included that typo in your calculations, Dale- (135*.5)/(6*0.8) = 14.0625 ...
And actually, hey, the Gen II's were rated for more HP... I wonder what injectors they used.

Calculation place I found was .50 for n/a, and .60 for boosted.
I thought 2.8l were 125hp??
Either way it goes, (135x.45)/(6x.80)=12.656, still 13

For crying out loud people. That formula only gives you the MINIMUM injector size needed.
GM could have easily popped 15pph in the 2.8s, and simply rescaled the fuel tables.
I do believe the 2.8s are 13pph, tho. Altho, I have noticed my car runs rich - could be that replacements are 15pph injectors.
